Stable charger with some flaws.
I’ve recently become enamored with wireless charging. It’s not something that I really felt I needed until I actually had it available to me. Now that I do, I can’t get enough of the accessories that are available for Qi wireless charging devices. I recently acquired a charging case for my iPhone that operates through Qi wireless charging. If I didn’t have it, I wouldn’t be able to use these really cool wireless charging devices – like the Mo.Mat Wireless Charger.
The Mo.Mat Wireless Charger a bit smaller than my iPhone 6, but about twice as thick. Also, it’s a bit on the heavy side. I’m not saying that the charger isn’t portable, but there are definitely other Qi chargers in the market that are a little less portly. The Mo.Mat charger gets it’s power via Micro USB. The manufacturer was nice enough to provide two Micro USB cables – one long and one short – in the box with the charger.
So, how does it work? Through my testing, I have found it to be a successful charger. I do have a couple of issue with it though. First, the energy exchange between the charger and the device it’s charging seems to create a large amount of heat. I’ve noticed this with other Qi chargers I’ve used, but it wasn’t to this great of an extent. The heat does dissipate once the device is removed from the charger, but it’s still concerning as I don’t want any damage to be cause to my device because of it. Because there is an exchange of energy, I would expect some heat, but not as much as I experienced with the Mo.Mat Wireless Charger.
The other issue I had with it was the resting platform for the mobile phone. When the Mo.Mat is unfolded and being used as a vertical stand, there is a small trap door that I refer to as the resting platform. The platform has a groove in it to help with stability for your device, but because I have my device in a special case that is rounded, I did have a few issues with it rocking off the platform and falling onto my desk.
Overall, I like the concept of this charger, but have some personal concerns with it. It is built well and charges correctly. I feel that the price might be a little on the high end for what this is.
