XShot Adventure Grip and Mini Tripod travel well and serve multiple purposes.

Being a newcomer to CES 2016, it was exciting and overwhelming. The advancements being made in technology were both astounding and impressive. I even joined the Apple movement and picked up an iPhone 6S Plus, to replace my old Samsung S4 that was obsolete and problematic. On our last day at CES 2016, I came across XShot, Inc. I had the pleasure of talking with the team from XShot about their new gear for 2016. They have many tech products that serve the adventure enthusiast and the outdoorsman. Their booth was well placed and organized, and showcased their products amazingly well. From selfie sticks, to underwater GoPro domes, to tripods, this company has many amazing offerings.

I explained that my son and I had been looking for a mounting option that would safely and snuggly hold the iPhone 6s Plus inside of an Otterbox Defender case. Many of the clamps and options, that I have tested previously, have been too tight and did not fit or the phone would fall out of the holder. They introduced me to the XShot Sport Camera Extender Pole and the Adventure Grip and Mini Tripod. They ended up providing me with an XShot Adventure Grip and Mini Tripod to review.

The device comes packaged in clear clamshell plastic with a mountainside in the background. The front of the packaging displays 2 products the adventure grip holder and the mini travel tripod. These devices are listed as “Travel Friendly, Compact Design, Ultra Lightweight, Adjustable Tripod, 360 degree Ball Head, Great for Many Devices (Compact Cameras, GoPro Cameras, Mobile phones, small tablets.” The back of the packaging demonstrates the product, how the adventure grip slider works. This device expands and locks into place to fit most devices, including those in protective cases. It has a standard Tripod Mount on the bottom of the Adventure Grip Holder. It also has a high utility for people who have large cases on their phones to include Catalyst, Otterbox and Lifeproof.

The Adventure Grip weighs in at 0.9 oz and is made of flexible rubber. The lock mechanism is black and the grip is grey and ribbed to allow for grip. Unlock the back of the lock and slide the grip up, to open the clamp. Slide the phone into the rubberized clamps and then close the lock, to secure the clamp on the phone. The tripod is easily foldable and portable, weighing in at 0.6 oz. There is a plastic lock nut on the bottom of the tripod that locks the 360 degree rotating head. This is convenient for taking photographs and for watching movies. The clamp holds my iPhone 6S plus and my Kindle Fire HD 8 snugly in place. The gray backing has listed iPhone 5, iPhone 6, Galaxy S5, IPhone 6+, Galaxy Note, iPad mini and iPad. I do not know what these represent. There is 5 inches in between the 2 clamps from center to center.

In summary, the packaging was eye catching, was easy to open and performed to my every expectation. This device works well with any standard tripod mount. It is flexible enough and small enough to fit in your pocket. I was really impressed with the XShot, Inc. company and their products. I liked the tripod and the locking system. The Adventure Grip is a device that will open the door to multiple accessories. I rate this at 5/5 stars. It grips the device well and relieves the anxiety of a falling device. With this device, I was able to test the XShot Sport Extender Pole. For a universal mounting option, this will serve you well.
