A stylish, but protective case that is perfect for any type of user.
I like to keep my phones in cases. I’m obsessed with it. Damage to my phone has been a real concern of mine ever since I dropped my original iPhone more than 10 years ago. That drop ended my relationship with iPhone for a while because at the time, there were no cases built for them. You had to carry it around naked and that was unacceptable to me. Fortunately, there are no shortage of cases now and we have options for the types of protection and style you want for your phone. I like to stay protected while keeping a phone in a minimal case. This is why I LOVE X-Doria cases. I was able to get my hands on one of their newest cases — the Defense Air — which gives users the protection without weighing you down.

DETAILS
The Defense Air is specifically designed for the iPhone Xr, which is one of Apple’s most recent iPhone releases (October 2018). The case is made from hard polycarbonate, soft rubber, and anodized aluminum to form a one-of-a-kind protective barrier for your iPhone. The case is certified to survive drops on concrete (exceeds MIL-STD-810G) and features a lifetime warranty. The case is available in four different color options — red, teal, black, and silver. The color is a highlight of the case as a gradient that creates a pop of style that is fun to show off.
Features
- Certified To Survive 10’ (3m) Drops on Concrete; Exceeds MIL-STD-810G for drops
- Durable, machined metal exterior frame provides military-grade protection without the bulk
- Integrated sound channel amplifies the bottom speaker and redirects sound to the front
- New Bubble Texture interior lining provides advanced drop protection
- Clear polycarbonate shell protects your device without covering up your choice of color
- Raised lip protects your screen from drops and surface scratches.
- Simple, snap on construction means no tools or screws required

USER EXPERIENCE
The case comes in a lovely X-Doria branded box. The outside of the box features an image of the case so that you can see which color is stored in the box. There are minimal details printed on the outside of the box, but when you open the cover, the full details are show there and a transparent plastic cover allows you to actually see the product. There is a small cutout that provides the user with an option to actually touch the case, too.

The style of the case is stunning. I love that X-Doria kept the case clear for the most part with a highlight of color. It allows you to show off the natural style of the phone while still giving you more than just a clear case. The case is mostly rigid, but it flexible enough to install the phone into it easily. I was able to install and remove the phone from the case without any frustrations. The standard cutouts on the case allow easy access to the camera lens, Lightning port, and one of the speakers. I noticed that X-Doria opted to cover one of the speakers (the right side) and provide a forward-facing opening so that sound it directed out towards the screen of the phone rather than down and out the bottom.

Buttons were easy to press and it seems to hold up really well against regular daily use. I haven’t attempted to do any ‘smash’ tests or endurance trials with the Defense Air, but based on past experiences and the durability of the case, it seems like this will provide sufficient protection for the iPhone Xr no matter what the circumstances are.

CONCLUSIONS
I’ve always been impressed with X-Doria products and really love this newest case. I actually hope that they end up releasing it for the iPhone Xs, too, because that’s my daily driver phone. The Defense Air is stylish and protective and provides an enjoyable user experience.
