Wreck This App brings messy creativity to your iOS devices.

Do you sometimes find yourself feeling bored and wishing you had something creative to do for a few minutes? Penguin’s Perigree Books has created an app for just this purpose. Wreck This App for iOS is an app dedicated to helping adults tap into their creative side. The developers want to see users be more creative by being destructive – on their iOS device screen. Scribble wildly, drip ink on the screen, shatter drawings – these activities are all a part of Wreck This App.

wreck1Wreck This App just released version 2.0, which comes with several new features including –

  • New tools – crayons, spray-paint can, distortion tools
  • Updated hole-punch and shatter tools
  • Ability to develop and store custom colors
  • 8 new creativity prompts
  • Refreshed user interface with new palette, tool menu, social media sharing option and table of contents
  • Redo button
  • Retina display support

Wreck This App is based on a book by author/illustrator Keri Smith and includes more than 70 ideas and directions for users to blossom their creativity.

wreck2When I first opened the app, I didn’t quite know what to expect. The app shares its developer with Coloring for Grown Ups, which was also a surprising creative romp. Wreck This App takes you through a very short tutorial and then leaves the creating up to you. The directions of the app tell you to interpret the instructions your own way and to have fun.

I personally found Wreck This App to be a lot of fun. It’s quirky and perfect for those times that you just have a minute to spare. There have been plenty of times that I’ve been working on a monotonous task and just need to look away from the computer screen and free up my brain cells by doing something creative. Wreck This App is perfect for this.

Wreck This App version 2.0 is available for download in the App Store for $4.99. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. For more information visit penguin.com/static/pages/features/keri_smith/wreck_this_app.
