Students need to conduct research to carry out their schoolwork. A computer will help them gather the necessary information for their assignments, essays, and papers. They can also use the device for other activities like playing games. However, purchasing a computer involves making a choice that may be complex. Will you buy a PC or laptop?

Choosing between the two options may be challenging for a student. However, exploring the differences between the devices will help you make a better choice. Besides, you can consider factors like the device’s intended use, power, and cost.

The best computer for a student

Your choice of a computer may not be the best for you. Naturally, you would not want to purchase a device that will not satisfy your needs. Whether it is research or writing assignments, it should work well. Still, you can get support from https://assignmentgeek.com/college.html for your assignments.

A desktop PC occupies a desk in a home or an office. Such a device has separate parts, including a mouse, processor, display monitor, and keyboard. Also, it possesses a hard drive, operating system, memory, and other components. You can use a PC for various activities, including web browsing, multimedia editing, streaming videos, word processing, and gaming.

Conversely, a laptop is a portable device fitted with a keyboard, monitor, and touchpad, a substitute for the mouse. The lightweight device has a LED or LCD computer screen inside its upper lid. You can use a laptop while traveling because you don’t have to plug it into a power source. Besides, there are other factors to consider when buying a computer.

  • Size of device: Compared to a PC, a laptop is movable. However, the latter’s battery size can limit its portability. A larger battery can make a laptop heavier. In addition, the programs you use on your notebook affect its battery. However, it can last for 6 to 12 hours on average.
  • Specifications: If you intend to buy a computer, check the specifications for the hard drive, RAM, graphic card, and CPU. Generally, a desktop PC may have higher specifications than a similar-priced laptop. The two devices can have similar CPU specifications. However, you must choose a processor that will perform best.
  • Speed: Previously, desktop PCs are regarded as fast computers. However, some recent laptops have middle to high-end hardware with excellent performance. Some notebooks have superior processors and graphics, but desktop PCs usually receive such components first. Consequently, a portable and high-performance modern laptop will be a great option if you don’t have a heavy workload.
  • Screen size: Unlike laptops, PCs possess giant screens. The regular screens for a desktop are the 24-inch to 27-inch models. However, you can opt for a 31-inch or larger monitor to satisfy your requirements for bigger desk space. Contrarily, notebooks can have a12 to 15- inch monitors. A 15-inch laptop can provide sufficient space for students to do their schoolwork.

Before you purchase a computer, set a budget first. Then, find a laptop or PC that is within your budget and can satisfy your intended use. Desktop PCs can be budget-friendly, but you can buy an affordable laptop with your desired specifications.

Why choose a desktop PC or laptop?

A desktop Pc offers more storage space than a notebook. It is an excellent option for gaming or storing multiple music files. Besides, you can customize or expand the device by adding better graphics and increasing memory and storage. If you want a computer you can use on the move, go for a laptop. You can use it at your convenience and not at a particular working location.
