WeatherCube provides a quick, easy view of the weather.

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to weather apps for iOS. iPhones come equipped with Weather, which is powered by Yahoo, but it provides limited information for the conditions in the user’s immediate area. For quite some time, I’ve been using weather.com as my standard weather app because it comes loaded with a radar maps feature. Something that Apple Weather does not. Lately, I’ve found myself wanting a quick look at the weather conditions without any bells and whistles, but also something that provides more than Apple Weather. That’s when I found WeatherCube.

weathercube-1WeatherCube provides a very unique way at looking at the essentials of the wether forest – sky cover, wind direction and speed, temperature, humidity percentage, precipitation amount and more. Some of the features include:

  • complete interactivity
  • unique views – hourly, daily and weekly
  • service to over 1.7 million cities
  • colorful themes
  • multiple languages

When the app first starts up, it asks you for your location. Once it locates you, the city appears at the top of the screen with several blocks beneath it. The first two blocks show the date and appointments from your calendar (if you allow the connection.) The next two blocks show the current weather conditions and temperature. The next two show the wind speed and precipitation totals. The last two show cloud cover percentage and percentage of humidity.

The really fun part of this app is that it uses gestures from iOS to operate. The user can tap each square to get a more in depth look at the weather. And, you can flip through the ‘cube’ to view different days of the week.

I really enjoy this app for weather viewing. It’s simple and quick. It gives me a very quick view of the weather conditions, which is what I want when I’m busy. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-designed, fun weather app.

WeatherCube was featured recently as Apple’s App of the Week and is currently being offered for free. The regular retail price is $0.99. For more information about WeatherCube, visit weathercube.com.
