Upgrade your Vivint Doorbell Chime from Spooky to Santa
According to data from postalytics.com, approximately 800 million packages and 15 billion pieces of mail will be sent by the USPS alone between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. When combined with UPS plus FedEx data, and our post-COVID e-commerce favoring landscape, shipping numbers have reached unfathomable levels. Even though we excitedly celebrate Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday/Week, many may never see their packages nor recuperate their financial investment.
It is estimated that 3 in 4 Americans have been the victim of package theft, and more than 260 million packages have disappeared in the last 12 months, according to a safewise.com survey. So, what can one do to help thwart the scourge of the Porch Pirate, while adding a bit of holiday cheer? Consider adding Vivint to your home and employing the features of their Video Doorbell Pro.
I have trusted Vivint with my home safety for the last decade. I started alongside their initial systems and upgraded to newer tech over time. Vivint services have added a sentry to my perimeter through Keyless Entry Locks, Video Doorbell Pro, Outdoor Camera Pro, Door Open/Close sensors, and Window open/close Sensors. Additionally, my family has benefited from the Vivint Smoke/CO sensors and Flood Detection.
Despite the plethora of features of the monitored Smart Home setup, my family benefits most from the Doorbell Camera Pro and Door Locks. If you have not previously perused my Vivint reviews, I invite you to skim through them. The package detection feature is top-notch and perhaps one of the best features of the doorbell system.
The Chime Feature
One often overlooked feature of the Doorbell Pro system is the chime itself. As someone presses the button on the doorbell, an inside chime will ring, and a notification will be sent to linked smartphones/devices. You can communicate with the person at the door via smartphone or utilize the HUB. The setup provides a good amount of customization through the Vivint App.
Open the Vivint App, tap the hamburger at the top left (three horizontal lines), scroll down to cameras, select your Doorbell, and then peruse the settings. You can adjust notifications, recording, detection zone, turn on/off deter mode, change the deter tone, and adjust the package detection location. In addition, you can adjust the quality/bandwidth, night vision detection, toggle audio recording on/off, share the data, change the camera’s name, and restart/reboot the camera.
Excitedly, the Vivint system will allow you to ditch that boring ding-dong for seasonal selections. As an example, this past Halloween, the system allowed users to enjoy Creepy Bells, Howl at the Moon, Scary Organ, Spooky Laugh, Trick or Treat, and Witches Laugh. Of the listed options, my children and I enjoyed Scary Organ and Creepy Bells the most.
Starting November 10th, 2022, Vivint shifted toward the Thanksgiving/Fall selections of Dinner Bell, Tea Kettle Whistle, and Turkey Gobble. My children enjoyed hearing the gobbling turkey noises but were rather indifferent to the others. This upcoming winter, you can expect to add a variety of Holiday themed rings, such as Deck the Halls, Ho! Ho! Ho!, Winter Wonderland, Happy Holidays, Jingle Bells, and Dreidel! Dreidel! Dreidel!

Conclusion
For those interested in a fantastic gift for the whole family, consider upgrading your home to a Vivint Smart Home. My wife has enjoyed the ability to lock/unlock our doors with her smartphone, the option to adjust the Element thermostats while away, and the keyfob’s ability to activate/deactivate the home without pulling out her phone.
My kids have loved being able to input the door code to help with groceries or when arriving home after school activities. We have activated/utilized the smoke alarms during a few kitchen mishaps and immediately talked with the Vivint team. My wife appreciated that each communication was professional and the team employed courteous, compassionate people.
Lastly, the system’s water/leak detector saved us money and heartache when it detected a leak from a cracked pipe in an outside wall. We were alerted to the small crack and turned off the water before it became an expensive catastrophe. Overall, my wife and I have had a great Vivint experience, from product/tech to customer service.
Enjoy the Holidays with a little touch of cheer from Vivint.
