Ventev Powercell 3015 Battery Charger provides lightweight, portable, reliable power.
When I think of the modern day business techie, I am reminded of the TV jingle for the medication Detrol LA. “Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now, gotta go, gotta go, gotta go.” We are always on the go and our tech is getting bigger, more powerful and more battery hungry. It is thus a constant struggle to keep all of our tech powered and ready for our busy lives. No access to a wall outlet, car charger or other source of power, no problem. Ventev has you covered.
Ventev has a way with packaging. I love their floating product packages, and the way they use clear plastic to showcase their tech. The Ventev power cell 3015 portable battery charger is no different. This pre-charged 3000 mAh Lithium-ion polymer battery is easily removed from its packaging and is beautiful in its simplicity. The packaging is very professional, details the product and specs in a way that I, as a consumer, appreciate. I love product packaging that allows you to see what you are getting and plenty of information to make sure it is the right device for you. Included with the battery is a very helpful, well worded instruction manual and an 18 inch USB A to micro USB charger.
The battery measures at approximately 10cmx5.5 cmx1cm in size and is easily slipped into a shirt pocket, pants pocket , etc. The battery has a respectable output of 5V 1.5A, which makes it “ideal for charging any USB-powered device.” This battery is thus compatible with nearly any device you have, that uses USB as a charging method. It has a standard Input power of 5V, 1A(5W) and takes about 3 hours to charge via wall outlet power and about 4-4.5 hours via computer USB. I have tested both of these and had about 3-4 hours to charge via both methods. The device has an LED battery level indicator with 4 LED. If all 4 LED are blank, this suggests that there is no charge on the battery and that it is requiring recharge. Each LED represents about 25% charge. When all 4 circles are filled, this suggests >75% power in the battery.
It is important to remember that lithium ion-polymer batteries have some limitations. First they operate within a temperature range of 0F-115F. Do not attempt to charge them if there is any visible defect or if there is any leakage of contents. Your electronics are important to Ventev. To prove it, there are a number of safety features built into the battery. It has built in overcharge, over current, over discharge and short circuit protection. It claims that it can add up to 12 hours of talk time or up to 10 hours of browsing time to your devices. Of course this is dependent on the device and what you are doing with the device.
I have been immensely impressed with Ventev, and with their various products. This device will charge my iPhone 6s Plus about once and my iPad Air 2 about 1/2 charge. Like many batteries, this charger seems to charge better and faster, if the phone is in standby or off. I find that charging from batteries, while actively using the phone, essentially stops you from losing additional power. Basically the charge on your phone/device stops declining, but you do not make progress. This is not a defect of the Ventev battery, but rather chargers in general. This power cell pack is extremely lightweight and is easy to pack with you, wherever you need to go. Although, it is not the highest mAh battery that I own (I have a 20,000 mAh battery) it is the lightest and easily the most portable. This device seems to fit nicely with the camping/backpacking industry, where weight really matters. I do wish that Ventev had a solar charging option for this battery pack. Combine a light weight solar charger with this lightweight battery, and you take this from awesome to extraordinary. I am a huge fan of this battery pack. I give it 5/5 stars based on size, portability and reliability of the company, backing their products with their Ventev limited warranty.
