The Veho T-1 Messenger Bag proves that you do not have to sacrifice style to protect your gear.
Like spiders, we are never very far from our tech. At any given time, I am within feet of a Lenovo Laptop or MacBook Pro, an iPad, iPhone X and other devices like Tv’s, Apple Watch, Xbox One, etc. When I carry my gear, I like to know that it is protected and so I use cases and bags to carry them around. My typical goto bag has been a multi-pocket backpack. The brand of backpack has changed with time, from a generic Walmart bag to an amazing Bolt backpack form M-Edge and then an amazing bag from Tylt. These options worked well for me through college and a variety of other venues but there were times that I wanted a more professional style bag, a messenger option. I carried a leather briefcase for a while but felt it was more designed for looks than function. As a fan of Veho products, I was excited to talk with the team about their messenger style bags, while attending CES. Growing up in Southern California, I had very little need for heavy jackets or winter clothing. Yet, I had always wondered about down coats, appreciating their characteristic appearance. After moving northeast, and experiencing a true winter, I further appreciated the construction, the quality, the warmth and the function. Veho capitalized on this appearance and bottled up a touch of nostalgia with their T-1 Messenger Bag.
The attractive matte black colored Veho T1 Messenger Bag, with its quilted lines, and fluffy foam padded appearance, reminded me of the comfort of a down jacket. I appreciated the contrasting vibrant white “veho” logo along the top right of the bag and the T-1 label along the top left. Just below the Veho logo, you will find an 11 1/2 inches long zipper that opens into 12 inches tall by 15 inches wide pocket. The pocket extends 2 inches above the zipper and 1 1/4 inches beyond either side of the zipper. The one-inch thick front padded panel provided more than enough padding for the thin administrative pocket but also protected the larger main pocket. Inside of the first pocket, the team from Veho intelligently included a built-in set of four administrative organizer pockets. Starting at the right, the five-inch-tall pockets measure 3 inches wide, 3/4 inches wide, 3/4 inches wide and 5 inches wide. The smaller pockets are perfect for pens or pencils, and the larger pockets are perfect for a phone, a small notepad a calculator or index cards. The remainder of the pocket can be utilized for a spiral notebook, legal pad or small textbook. The opening zipper has an amazing black pull tab with a white “veho” logo on either side. The smooth action of the zipper and the easy access to the zipper was very refreshing and well made. I preferred to tuck the Veho zipper-pull into the padded layer to detract from vying eyes.
Directly behind the front pouch, Veho provided a 16 inches wide by 12 inches tall by 2 1/4 inches thick pocket. The pocket was easily accessible by opening the dual upper U-shaped 23-inch zippers, with similar Veho zipper-pulls. I appreciated the inclusion of locking loops into the two zippers, which would allow you to secure your electronics with a small lock (not included). The inside of the pocket felt a bit narrow to house 3 pockets. The front pocket measured 13 inches wide by eight inches tall and had a single 3 1/4 inches long by one-inch wide elastic retention strap. The nine inches tall back pocket spans the entire width of the bag, and the 2 inches wide pocket is surrounded by 5/8 inch padding along the sides and front. Similar to the front pocket, you will find an elastic retention strap. However, this time the more robust strap measures 1 1/2 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches long. The back pocket is large enough to hold a 15-inch MacBook Pro inside of a UAG case or a smaller laptop. The front pouch will hold up to a full-sized iPad Pro 10.5″. If both pockets are occupied, the middle of the pocket does not have much extra room. Since both of the pockets are lined with fabric, you can place a spiral notebook or a thin textbook in between your laptop and tablet. Along either side of the zipper, you will find a 1 1/4 inch diaper semi-circle that served as an attachment point for the included shoulder strap.
The back 15 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall panel is lined along the top with a zipper with another Veho pull tab. The front of the pocket is protected by all of the features in front of it but only has minimal padding along the back of the bag. Just behind this pocket, you will find a 1 1/2 inches thick by 8 1/2 inches long strap, which is designed to slide over a luggage pull handle. As a lover of technology, I appreciate when companies go the extra mile to include bonus features. If you have ever traveled through an airport, train station or convention, and had to lug around your carry-on and laptop bag, you would truly appreciate the addition of the rear sleeve. The beauty of this setup is that the bag is ideal for the techie, business professional, student and everyone else. The front is incredibly well padded and protective of the internal electronics. The middle more secure compartment could have benefited from an included lock, but this was not a deal breaker for the price. There is ample room in the bag for all our notebooks, electronics, writing utensils and any other business needs. My favorite part of the setup was how efficient the bag truly was. There are two carry handles across either side of the bag. There is a 5/8 inches wide single snap retention strap that will turn the two leather lined handles into a single carry handle. This handle also adds yet another layer of security to the bag.
Whether you want to carry the bag by the single carry handle, the removable 42 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide shoulder strap or to slide it over your luggage, the bag has so many options. The price is perfect for the Veho messenger bag, and their design was pleasing. I liked the Veho label on the front cover, on the zipper pulls and loved the large white “veho” on the 8 inches long by 3 inches wide shoulder pad. I love this bag, the simple yet elegant design and the fact that Veho did not include a buffet of features. I have used this bag every day for the past month and would highly recommend it for everyday use. I rate the bag at 5/5 stars.
