UV8LED’s industry-leading technology provides 360-degree, ultra-fast UV-C light sanitization that eliminates up to 99.9% of germs, viruses and harmful bacteria in just five minutes

Utilimedic, a design and engineering division of vehicle technology leader Namsung America, announces the launch of the first phone sanitizer designed for in-car use, the UV8LED In-Car Phone Sanitizer with Wireless and Wired Charging.

Designed for those on the go and for day-to-day cleaning of objects, the UV8LED is engineered to provide 360-degree sanitization of personal devices and other high-touch items in just five minutes and is equipped with a non-slip silicone pad that rests securely on the car’s dashboard.

“People are much more concerned with spreading germs and are more diligently sanitizing their hands amid the pandemic, so we created a product that can sanitize your phone, something that is constantly being touched, right in your car while you are on the go,” said Jim Matthay, Utilimedic Product Manager. “By creating a product that quickly cleans many high- touch devices and is specifically made for inside the car, we have filled a niche need during a time when everyone is looking to stay safe and germ-free for themselves and their families.”

Germ “droplets” can remain infectious on surfaces for many hours, and even longer on hard surfaces like plastic and stainless steel. With the UV8LED sanitizer, even the largest phones on the market can fit inside the chamber along with other high-touch items including face masks, credit cards, sunglasses and more. Ultra-fast sanitizing eliminates up to 99.9% of germs and bacteria at the DNA level in just five minutes using eight high-power broad-beam UV-C LED’s foradvanced 360-degree sanitization to the front, back and all four sides of the phone. By using UV-C LED’s, mobile phones are not stripped of their protective coatings as they would be by cleaning them with rubbing alcohol. The base of the sanitizing compartment has four UV-C transparent adjustable legs to separate the phone and chamber walls to keep it secure while in a moving vehicle. The chamber is made with vacuum plated aluminum to maximize UV-C reflectivity while still allowing Bluetooth, cellular and Wi-Fi signals to pass through during sanitizing.

The device is constructed for the car environment. The material can withstand extreme temperatures inside a vehicle and is protected from sunlight, heat, cold and humidity. The product includes a dual USB 12V adapter to connect the sanitizer and mobile phone to power simultaneously. A rubberized slot on either side of the sanitizing chamber feeds the phone power cable out of the device for wired charging, providing connection to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto while sanitizing. The top of device has a non-skid surface for Qi certified wireless charging.

The UV8LED In-Car Phone Sanitizer with Wireless and Wired Charging retails for $89.99 and is now available for purchase on the company’s website and Crutchfield.
