A quiet, compact walking pad with incline that helps you stay consistent with movement, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
I’ve been on a journey this past year to get healthier. Starting in June (nearly 10 months ago), I’ve lost a little over 80 pounds. Between depression from losing a close family member and being put on a medication that caused me to hold onto weight, I blew up like a balloon. Now that I’ve dropped a good amount of weight, I feel more comfortable exercising, and one of the exercises I really enjoy doing is walking.
For someone who hasn’t consistently exercised in quite some time, I thought walking would be a good way to start a new routine. I needed something that would be easy on my joints and since walking is low impact, but still good for cardio health, I thought it was a good fit.

The other main reason I turned to walking is because I can regulate my own pace and rebuild a baseline of conditioning before I move on to something that requires more from me. In short, walking gets the blood pumping, and it’s giving me the time to readapt to exercise after losing weight.
As much as I’ve enjoyed getting back into a walking habit, my biggest issue is that I live in Southwestern Indiana. The weather here is bipolar in the worst way. One day it could be the perfect weather to take a long walk, and the next it could be blistering hot or even freezing cold. We really have a short window in the spring and very early summer when the weather is not filled with humidity and actually tolerable outdoors.
In the past, the weather patterns have always put a damper on me staying on track with walking. One thing that has helped me this time around is the Inclining Walking Pad by UPLIFT Desk.

User Experience
The walking pad was delivered in a brown cardboard box, nothing super fancy. What I noticed when picking it up outside my front door was that it’s heavy. The box was awkward, but once I was able to get it in the house and unboxed, I was impressed by how well it moved thanks to the rollers on the bottom. It rolls very easily over hard floors, but is a little harder to push over carpet.
To get started, you simply plug the walking pad into an outlet, flip the switch and then use the remote to change your speed and incline. I was walking on it within 5 minutes of unboxing it. The controls on the remote are very easy and self-explanatory. There are a + and – sign that increase or decrease your speed and a + and – sign along with a little mountain image that increases or decrease your incline. You can press and hold the buttons to get them to a number faster or just press them point by point. I tried both and the speed and incline will gradually increase at a safe rate even if you quickly raise the number for the speed or incline.

I really like the display on the walking pad. It’s visible, but can easily be ignored if you are “in the zone.” I do wish you could select what you want to stay on the screen. I would have liked to just watch the time rather than have it switch between data points.
One of the things I noticed right away with the walking pad was that it seems to be designed and built better than other ones I’ve used. Out of the box, the tension of the belt was solid, and it didn’t slip at all while I was walking. The belt size is very comfortable for my stride, and the incline is gentle but enough to provide noticeable benefits. Overall, it feels very stable no matter what speed I’m going. The walking pad isn’t loud. I was able to walk on it while watching the news, and I didn’t have to turn the volume up on the TV.

The Incline Walking Pad Difference
I’ve really come to enjoy starting my morning by setting the walking pad up next to my UPLIFT Desk and walking on it while I go through emails. It’s an easy way to start into the day, and by the time I’m ready to sit down and focus on writing, I’ve already gotten a solid walk in. Using the walking pad in conjunction with the UPLIFT Desk is a no-brainer since it is designed to raise and lower to my ideal height, making it easy to transition between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day.
Being an incline walking pad, I feel that I’m getting more from it than the basic walking you’d get from a flat treadmill. You’re getting a bit more of a workout while still being low impact. That’s important to me as I’ve had three surgeries on my left knee and a complete reconstruction of my left foot to correct my flat foot and help with the severe plantar fasciitis I had.
What I’ve learned is that when you walk on an incline, you’re engaging more muscle groups compared to walking on flat ground. Your hamstrings and calves work harder to move you upward, which increases calorie burn and builds strength without any high-impact stress of running.

Incline walking also activates core muscles more intensely as your body works to maintain balance on the slope. This means better stability and endurance over time. For someone like me with a history of knee surgeries, the incline actually reduces stress on my knee joint itself because it shifts more of the workload to the posterior chain, your glutes and hamstrings, rather than placing all the burden on the knees.
Incline walking also elevates your heart rate more efficiently than flat walking, providing cardiovascular benefits in a shorter amount of time. The increased metabolic demand means your body continues to burn calories even after you finish your workout. This “afterburn effect,” combined with the low impact of the exercise, makes incline treadmills an ideal solution for long-term fitness without risking joint injury.
Conclusion
You may think of UPLIFT Desk as a desk-only manufacturer and not someone to get health equipment from, but this is where you’re wrong. UPLIFT Desk focuses on providing ergonomic office furniture to help people work better and live healthier. Given their mission, making a walking pad for standing desks seems like a natural step for them. With that in mind, I really think their Inclining Walking Pad is an impressive addition to any office or workspace.
