Apple is my go-to for computers, ReSound is my go-to for hearing aids, and when it comes to office furniture, UPLIFT Desk is my go-to. UPLIFT Desk is a company that makes standing desks, but not just any standing desks. They make some of the most solid, well-built standing desks on the market. So when I got the opportunity to review the UPLIFT Desk Bistro Table and Stool Set, I was excited because I knew just how I would use it: as a tabletop photography studio.

I’ve been using their desk setups for a few years now, even before I started doing reviews of there products, and I couldn’t be happier with their what they make. I love the modular, customizable nature of their furniture. Not too long ago, I outfitted my office with UPLIFT Desk’s V3 Standing Desk with Walnut desktop. It’s beautiful and functional, which is just what I wanted.

The UPLIFT Height Adjustable Bistro Table blends the casual, social feel of a café table with the flexibility of a modern sit-stand workstation. Designed for dynamic environments, it adapts easily between seated, standing, and bar-height use, making it a versatile addition to offices, studios, and home workspaces.

Design, Build Quality & Assembly

Right out of the box, the Bistro Table makes a great first impression. Everything feels solid and well-made, from the heavy steel base to the tabletop, which, depending on your selection, can be a thick, high-quality piece of wood. The fit and finish are exactly what you’d expect from UPLIFT, with clean edges and materials that feel like they’re built to last.

The X-frame base does a good job keeping the table stable during normal use. Whether you’re sitting or standing, it feels secure and balanced. That said, the center of gravity sits right in the middle, so if you lean too heavily on one side or put too much weight off-center, it can start to tip. It’s not an issue in everyday use, but it’s something to be aware of. I added casters to make it easier to move around the office for photography, and while they don’t really hurt stability, they do make the table a lot more flexible.

Visually, the table fits right in with a professional setup, especially alongside something like a walnut UPLIFT Desk. At the same time, it’s clean and simple enough to work just as well on its own in a more casual space.

Assembly is about as straightforward as it gets. You mount the base to the tabletop and then attach the column. The parts are a little heavy, but nothing too difficult to manage, and the whole process took about 15 to 20 minutes. One thing to keep in mind is that the tabletop is shared across UPLIFT’s desk lineup, so the pre-drilled holes don’t always line up perfectly with the bistro base. In our case, we had to drill a few pilot holes to get everything properly secured, which adds a small extra step but isn’t a big deal overall.

Everyday Use / User Experience

Before I reviewed anything for UPLIFT Desk, I had already owned and was a fan of the company, that’s why I initially reached out to them. I knew they were the Apple of Desks. When I got the opportunity to review their Bistro Table and Stool Set, I got excited, I had been struggling to find the right size table for my home studio. Size-wise, it’s ideal for small items and for not making the office feel too overcrowded with furniture. The Bistro Table can be raised and lowered easily with the control paddle. It is a physical lever instead of a motorized option, but it’s a very easy to use up and down option.

The Soft Roll Desk Casters roll easily on carpet, and the carpet we have in my office is pretty thick. Since I use this for product photography having a dedicated flat surface that can be rolled around and raised is not only perfect for my needs, but it really is a must.

One of the benefits of using this bistro table for photography is the fact that I can position my flash and camera on clamp-on arms, and the setup moves with the table. It keeps me from having to reposition those every time I raise or lower the table. As far as mobility goes, the table has been very stable for me when I move it around in my office. I do this fairly often so that I can use backdrops behind it and provide a variety of environments for photos.

As I mentioned, I went with the walnut butcher block top for the bistro table so that it would match the other pieces in my office. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that the coating that is on the butcher block top is very reflective. To combat this issue, I picked up a polarizing filter for my camera and polarized film for my camera flash. This helps a lot with stopping the glare or hot spots when taking photos.

In general, this bistro table would make a great addition to a break room. It’s been ideal for me in my home office, but I could definitely see other uses for it. In fact, the Bistro table is so nice that I have decided to also use it on the holidays when the family comes to visit. It’s just the right size to seat two or three people comfortably, and the adjustability makes it perfect for the family member who is not too tall or way too tall. Either way, the Bistro table will allow them to sit at ease.

Kerbey Barstools by UPLIFT Desk

While the Bistro Table is not packaged together with stools, UPLIFT Desk does have a very nice set of barstools that work with the table very well. The Kerbey Barstools are a set of modern, bar-height seating designed to complement UPLIFT’s tables and desks. They feature a wood veneer seat and back paired with a steel frame, along with padded vegan leather for added comfort. Built-in footrests and leveling glides help improve stability and usability on a variety of floor surfaces. Sold as a pair, they’re intended for shared spaces like bar-height workstations, kitchens, or casual office areas where a clean, cohesive look matters.

Since I was using the Bistro Table as a photography studio, I decided to use the stools with my kitchen bar. They are perfect for extra seating when guests come over. They are comfortable and the back has just the right amount of padding for support. They do have to be assembled, but there are only five main pieces that have to be put together (backrest, frame, seat, legs, and footrest). I had them assembled in approximately 20 minutes. They could work great with the Bistro Table, but they function well on their own, too.

Conclusion

The UPLIFT Height Adjustable Bistro Table delivers on exactly what it promises: a flexible, well-built surface that adapts to a variety of uses without overcomplicating the experience. It doesn’t try to replace a full standing desk, but it fills an important gap between casual furniture and functional workspace solutions. In my case, it turned into a highly effective tabletop photography station, offering the right mix of size, mobility, and adjustability.

UPLIFT’s version of the bistro table takes that familiar café-table design and gives it a new spin. It’s been a fantastic addition to my office, and it’s easy to see it working just as well in other spaces.
