Total protection while enjoying the Apple Keyboard
Like lots of other people, I love my iPad Pro. I dislike taking it with me and leaving my Apple Pencil behind though. In the past, I have made use of the Apple Smart Keyboard for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro (my iPad of choice). I like this option for screen coverage, but don’t like leaving the back of the iPad vulnerable. I have used cases that allow me to carry my Pencil with me but then I’m limited to using a third-party Bluetooth keyboard or removing the case when I want to use my Apple Keyboard. Fortunately, UAG designed has released the Plasma case for the iPad Pro 10.5 to defend your device while allowing the use of both of your horribly expensive Apple accessories.
The NEW Plasma Series iPad case is available exclusively at Best Buy stores. The case is MIL-SPEC drop-tested and is designed to offer rugged protection for iPad users that still want a slim case. The Plasma provides 360-degree protection and Apple Keyboard compatibility. You can also make use of the case’s two-position kickstand feature as well as the Apple Pencil holder. The UAG Plasma for iPad is compatible with the iPad Pro 12.9″, iPad Pro 10.5″, and the 5th and 6th Gen iPads.
- Feather-light composite construction
- Impact resistant soft core
- Easy access to touchscreen and ports
- Meet military drop-test standards (MIL STD 810G-516.6)
I have always found UAG to have wonderful packaging. Sometimes it feels like they spend more money designing packaging then other companies spend designing products. The graphics on the box lay out the use of the case along with details about its protection. There is a flap on the back of the box that lifts up and you can easily pull the Plasma from the packaging. Since the box has all of the information on the outside there were no instructions inside. I did find a nice UAG sticker inside the box along with my Plasma Series iPad Pro case.
Installation was painless but I did have trouble putting the plastic bracket back on when I wasn’t using the Apple Keyboard. The case has unique cutouts for the buttons and speakers. I was able to access all the ports without any problems and the Apple Pencil holder keeps my $100 drawing utensil in place nicely. I tested dropping the iPad a few times face down on my desk to see how the lip around the screen would handle falls. There was no breakage or sounds of glass touching my desk. If I was to pick out one thing about the case I really dislike it would be the kickstand. As much as I love the angle it provides it does seem like cheap plastic and could easily break off at any moment. If this happens it won’t affect the major use of the case and that is to protect the iPad and carry your Apple keyboard and pencil. All in all, I like it and the extra weight it ads is not enough for me to not use it.
Even though some cases provide protection for Apple’s iPad, there are very few that are designed to accommodate the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. UAG has done a great job of creating a functional, stylish case the offers superior protection for any type of environment.
