TourStar puts you in the driver seat for your rise to superstardom.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an up and coming music star? Wonder what it takes to survive the music industry? With TourStar, a game for iOS, you can discover your own stardom and win real world prizes.
TourStar by ground(ctrl) was designed to simulate a music industry hopeful as they journey through their rise to fame. Music This iOS sim game is the first of app its kind to bring tour life together with the perks and challenges of that career path. First time players design a character and are put into tour mode where you make decisions about venues to play and whether or not to sign with a label or stay independent. As you progress through the game, every decision you make effects your career.
As I played through the game, I found it delightful. Like other sim-based games, I was easily drawn into the tour life and tried my hardest to earn fame points and cash so that I could progress to the next stage. What I found was that it’s not as easy as some other games. Some other sim-based games will progress you quickly through the first few levels and then increase the difficulty. TourStar does not. It’s difficult from the get go. In that respect, I would imagine it’s more realistic to a music hopeful in the industry.
I was entertained by the fact that the Level 1 gigs included events like a Sweet 16 Birthday Party, a Bar Mitzvah, Open Mic Night, House Party, High School Prom and a Local Coffee Shop. Each of these venues offers their own set of problems. At one point, I had 7 fame stars and over $1,200 from playing gigs. Within the first level of the tour, that’s an accomplishment because each pay per show is only $100-350. As I entered a show, I got a warning on the screen that let me know one of my band members was a no show and that I got booed at the event. That cost me all my stars and cash. And I was back at square one.
One of the most unique features about TourStar is the real-world rewards. As players progress through the game, they build up in-game fame points and they become eligible to win real world prize packages that include concert tickets and VIP meet-and-greets with artists like Avril Lavigne, Enrique Iglesias, Nick Carter, Kristian Bush, Pepper and G-Easy.
