This week in Tech, MWC 2013 came to a close, smaller tablets are expected to surpass full sized tablet sales, Facebook’s Newsfeed will get a face lift and O2 launches a new voip app.

Mobile World Congress 2013
This past week was Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain. The event is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry. It features device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from around the world. The event has been in existence since 1987. Smaller Tablets Take the Stage in 2013
A study conducted by Display Search states that sales of mini-tablets, like the iPad Mini or the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, are preferred by consumers over their larger predecessors. The study reports that people are paying attention to the maximized portability of the mini-tablets as well as the fact that they can do everything the full-sized tablets can do. It is predicted that the smaller tablets will begin gaining a lot more attention than the standard tablets.

Facebook Newsfeed to Get Facelift This Week
On March 7th, your newsfeed on Facebook will show off some new options. As one of the three ‘pillars’ of Facebook (Graph Search and Timeline being the other two), the Newsfeed will reportedly feature the following changes:

  • Video ads
  • New mobile version of Newsfeed
  • Revamped Timeline – to include more photos

O2 Launches Tu Go
Daring to compete with Skype, O2 developed an app to let users make and receive phone calls and texts via tablet, computer or smart phone. Tu Go is currently available for Android, Apple iOS devices and Windows 7 PCs.
