iPhone 7 models live up to water resistant claims.
Protection plan provider, SquareTrade, loves to test just how well iPhones live up to their durability promises through dunk, bend, drop and slide tests. To see if the new iPhones can really withstand H20, SquareTrade has taken its tests out of the lab and put the phones through the ultimate water challenge with the help of world renowned big wave surfer and standup paddle surfer, Kai Lenny. Kai took the new iPhones on the waves with him to see if they can handle the water and still work after riding a few waves. Lenny took the newest phones, along with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, with him on a short board in salt water.
Overall he found:
- iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus: The iPhone models before the water resistant design, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus proved that water isn’t their friend. The iPhone 6s lasted under 4 minutes and the iPhone 6s Plus lasted a little over 5 minutes, with its audio going out immediately.
- iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: These phones proved they live up to their water resistant claim – with both phones surviving 30 minutes in the salt water with Kai. The iPhone 7 took the lead as the winner with only slight audio muffling occurring during the ride. The iPhone 7 Plus still worked after 30 minutes, but the water definitely had an impact on the audio.
