Speak & Translate is an indispensable voice and text translator that allows to communicate effectively in any corner of the globe.
When I was a kid I would spend my time skateboarding to the library where I would get books on different languages. I did this because as a child I always wanted to learn how to talk with others outside of the English language.
Back in the day when I used to do this computers were the farthest thing from my mind and even if I was into computers then there was no software available to do what I wanted in the 80’s early 90’s. Now with technology so much more advanced and Apple’s iOS, the learning experiences have become so much better then the old ratty books I used to try to learn from. One of my favorite app developers, Apalon, has put out a great update to their Speak & Translate for iOS. With over 100 languages you can easily pull up the language you want to translate and simply just speak. Within a few seconds, you have what you need to say in any of the 100 languages they offer.
One of the many features that I am excited about with this app is the inclusion of a Today Widget. I really love having my most important apps and functions available through Today and this is a great idea for this app. Imagine you are in a foreign country and trying to find your way to your hotel. You don’t want to fumble through a translation dictionary or waste precious time thumbing through apps to find the right one. With the widget for Speak & Translate, you can pull down the Today screen and simple speak what you want to say to receive the translation. It’s a wonderful add-on.
Some of the features of Speak & Translate include:
- Advanced voice recognition technology
- Dictate what you need to translate or type the text
- Let the app speak the translation or read it on your screen
- Useful widget that saves translations and serves as an offline phrase-book
- Handoff option to switch translation from your iPhone to your iPad (or vice versa).
- iCloud integration: the history of your translations is synchronized across all your Apple devices
- Handy sharing options
