Affordable Everyday Earbuds with Reliable Connectivity and Balanced Audio Performance
The Soundpeats Air5 earbuds combine comfort, ease of use, and solid value. Their lightweight, semi-in-ear design and IPX5 water resistance make them great for everyday wear, though they’re less suited for intense workouts. Lacking full active noise cancellation, the AI Adaptive Noise Cancellation feature does a decent job, and the sound quality—boosted by aptX Lossless Audio and Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound—is impressive for the price. Overall, they provide strong performance and comfort without the need for premium features.

Comfortable, High-Value Earbuds with Impressive Sound Quality
The Soundpeats Air5 Earbuds offer a compelling mix of performance, comfort, and versatility, positioning themselves as a strong contender in the mid-range earbud market. Please take a minute to take a closer look at their performance across key areas, from sound quality to battery life and connectivity.
Design and Comfort
The Air5 earbuds feature a semi-in-ear design, which makes them comfortable to wear for long stretches. They have a sleek, minimalist look, with each earbud sitting lightly in the ear without applying too much pressure—a significant plus for those who dislike the snug fit of traditional in-ear buds. The semi-open design also allows for some ambient sound to filter through, which is beneficial if you want situational awareness (such as when walking outdoors). They stay in place relatively well for everyday use, but for high-intensity workouts, there may be more stable options on the market.
The earbuds are IPX5 water-resistant, which means they can handle sweat, light rain, and splashes without issue, but they’re not fully waterproof, so they shouldn’t be submerged in water. Overall, these earbuds strike a good balance between style, comfort, and durability.

Sound Quality
Soundpeats equipped these earbuds with the Qualcomm QCC3091 chip, 13mm drivers, and aptX Lossless Audio support, which is immediately noticeable in their audio performance. The sound profile is well-rounded, with a good balance across lows, mids, and highs.
Here’s a closer look at each sound range:
Bass: The 13mm drivers deliver a solid bass response that feels rich and impactful without being overwhelming. The bass isn’t overpowering, but it has enough depth to keep most genres, like pop and hip-hop, engaging.
Mids: The mid-range is clear and detailed, which is essential for vocals and instruments in genres like rock, jazz, and classical. There’s minimal distortion at normal listening levels, even on more intricate tracks.
Highs: The treble is sharp and precise without sounding harsh. High notes remain well-defined, though they may lack the ultra-crisp finish you’d find in more premium models.
Thanks to aptX Lossless Audio support, streaming music with high fidelity is a strength of these earbuds, as it reduces the loss of detail that can happen with other Bluetooth codecs. Soundpeats has done a good job here, and the addition of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound enhances clarity and fidelity, providing a rich listening experience that suits both music and podcasts.
Connectivity and Multipoint Pairing
One of the standout features of the Soundpeats Air5 is its Bluetooth V5.4 connectivity and multipoint pairing capability. This means you can connect the earbuds to two devices simultaneously perfect for people who frequently switch between their phone and laptop. The transition is usually smooth, allowing users to take calls on their phone and then switch back to music or video on a computer without having to manually disconnect and reconnect.
Bluetooth V5.4 provides a stable connection within a standard range of around 10 meters or 30 feet, a standard among most true wireless earbuds. Pairing the earbuds with devices is a straightforward process, and they connect quickly once paired. The earbuds also support both iOS and Android devices, and the connection quality is reliable with minimal latency. The low latency can be especially useful for watching videos or gaming, where audio sync is crucial.

Controls and User Experience
The Air5 earbuds come with touch-sensitive controls, which allow you to play/pause, skip tracks, and take calls without reaching for your device. Touch controls can sometimes be sensitive, and accidental taps may occur, but overall, the touch response is reasonably accurate. Some users may prefer physical buttons, but the touch controls on the Air5 are relatively intuitive once you get used to them.
One slight drawback is the lack of an active noise cancellation (ANC) feature, which can be a dealbreaker for some. However, they are equipped with AI Adaptive Noise Cancellation, which recognizes ear canal structure, wearing style, and environmental noise to adjust the noise cancellation depth in real time, balancing ear pressure for a comfortable and quiet experience.
To counter wind noise, the Air5 features a windproof woven steel mesh structure and an L-shaped cavity design, combined with a new wind noise reduction algorithm that can eliminate up to 90% of wind noise. The three-microphone system with the latest Qualcomm CVC V8.0 algorithm accurately captures voice while reducing surrounding noise, ensuring clear communication. I can appreciate the amount of software and time they added to make up for not having true active noise cancellation, but it still falls short when it comes to blocking out that extra background noise.
Battery Life
Soundpeats claims up to 30 hours of total battery life with the charging case, which is fairly accurate based on typical usage. On a single charge, the earbuds provide around 7-8 hours of playback time, which is more than enough for most users throughout the day. The charging case itself is compact yet holds enough extra charge to keep you going for a few days without needing to plug it in, making these earbuds very travel-friendly.
Charging is straightforward and quick, using a USB-C port on the case. However, wireless charging isn’t supported, which might be disappointing for some users who prefer a more convenient, cable-free option.

Call Quality and Mic Performance
With the Qualcomm QCC3091 chip and dual-mic technology, call quality on the Air5 is impressive, particularly in quieter environments. The microphones do a decent job of isolating your voice from background noise, but they’re not perfect. In especially noisy areas, like a bustling street or a crowded café, or in my case on a construction site, some background sounds may seep through. Overall, though, the Air5 earbuds are more than adequate for calls, video meetings, and voice commands.

User experience
From the first look at the exterior of the box, they give you a clean and simple design with a large image of the earbud itself while giving you a sneak peek of its premium and simplistic design. Opening the box, you are given your first look at the small and mighty charging case neatly wrapped in a protective film. In neat little compartments of the box, you will find the charging cable and the user manuals, no extra earpieces are required as it’s not a traditional in-ear style earbud.
You will find at the bottom of the case is the USB-C charging port and next to it is the pairing button, when I first connected them to my phone, I didn’t have to do anything other than open the case and they were ready for discovery. I already had the Soundpeats app so I didn’t have to download it again but inside the box, they have a card in multiple languages that gives you instructions on downloading for Android and iOS.

Looking at the earbuds they resemble a very closely to the first generation of air pods, but with a sophisticated look added by a chrome strip on the stem with a clean engraved logo. Not to mention the attention to detail as they added a very small but powerful phrase on the case itself.
Now to the sound and fitment! I’m sure you’ve been waiting for that. When you first pop them in your ears you really notice how lightweight they are, which makes it very easy to forget they are there that’s for sure, as previously stated the touch sensitivity does take some getting used to as it can be a bit sensitive at times but overall it’s solid and easy to get used to gesture system.
The audio is something that is actually fairly impressive for their price point right out of the box you will find it has a very crisp and clear sound with a fair amount of bass for the style given. while in the app you have an audio equalizer to fine-tune your earpieces such as different ear fitment with the AI noise cancelation for small medium and large to fit each person as best as possible.
With touch controls, you can easily navigate your “ANC’ and various functions without having to go through your phone or the app. In my personal experience, the noise cancelation does a good job when keeping out your everyday noise but when it comes down to the louder things like construction sites or a lawnmower, you may find yourself wanting more.
Final Verdict
The Soundpeats Air5 Bluetooth V5.4 Wireless Earbuds deliver a robust audio experience with features typically found in higher-end earbuds, like aptX Lossless Audio and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound, at a more affordable price. They’re a particularly strong choice for listeners who value sound quality, multipoint pairing, and comfort over premium features like ANC or wireless charging.
For everyday use, these earbuds perform excellently and represent solid value, with a few premium touches that set them apart in the mid-range market but do still lack some of the premium features like true noise suppression and wireless charging. If you’re looking for good audio performance, comfort, and reliable battery life without splurging on a premium model, the Soundpeats Air5 is a worthwhile consideration. As always thank you for reading and I hope I was able to help you make your choice when choosing your next set of earbuds.
