SOUNDPEATS Air5 Pro REVIEW Feature-Rich Hi-Res Earbuds at a Friendly Price

With powerful ANC, rich sound quality, and app customization, the Air5 Pro earbuds stands out as a strong, affordable alternative to premium earbuds.

One of the most important pieces of technology I own is my headphones. Not only do they connect me to my co-workers when we have meetings, but they also connect me with musical art. I love listening to music while I work, clean, and ride my bike. I usually use headphones when I make calls and even as ear safety devices. Headphones have come a long way — even in the past 5 years. My usual headphones of choice are my AirPods Pro. Sadly, my main set of AirPods Pro recently died on me. So I’ve been on the lookout for something that can replace them. SOUNDPEATS has consistently made some great headphone options and today, they have released their Air5 Pro, which couldn’t have come a better time for me.

User Experience

The earbuds come in a well-labeled box (they would be easily identifiable on a retail shelf). There is a full-size image of the side view of one of the earbuds on the front of the box and some of the details printed on the back. When you first open the box, you’ll find the earbuds in their charging case. Underneath them, you’ll find the replacement ear gels and charging cable. At first, I thought a manual wasn’t included, but then I looked in the top of the box and found the user guide, stickers, and app information.

After removing the charging contact material, I downloaded the app and registered an account with SOUNDPEATS. There is no charge for the account or the app. I followed the in-app and user guide instructions to get the earbuds connected to my iPhone 16 Pro and then tried on the earbuds.

The shape is very similar to an AirPod Pro so the build was familiar to me. The earbuds are very lightweight and feel like they are made with plastic. While the build quality might seem inexpensive, the sound quality could easily outshine earbuds that cost 2x-3x more than the Air5 Pro. I was immediately taken with the punchy bass (especially with bass boost enabled) and sound clarity that came from the earbuds. They instantly reminded me of my AirPods and I was excited to dive deeper with my listening experience.

ANC is very important feature to me so I played around with it a bit. I love that Transparency mode is included on these earbuds because in my opinion, they couldn’t compete with more expensive brands if they didn’t included that feature. That said, even with Transparency mode enabled, the earbuds do a certain amount of noise isolation if you have the proper ear gel fit. I started with the default size that was pre-installed and realized that the earbuds kept working their way out of my ears. So, I changed to the smaller size and they were a perfect fit.

With ANC mode on, a lot of the background noise is filtered out. I can’t hear the air conditioner, and the TV on the other side of the house is muffled. My mechanical keyboard is also less clicky with ANC on. Normal mode is pretty similar (with properly fitting ear gels), and with Transparency mode, I can still hear my keyboard and other background noises, but music is still the main sound I hear.

One of the best features of the Air5 Pro earbuds is the app support. You can customize the touch controls, select different ANC options and control your EQ settings. The app offers Adaptive EQ, presets, and the ability to customize your own EQ. There are so many premium brands that don’t provide this level of customization with their apps and it’s infuriating.

Conclusion

With the ANC options, premium sound quality, and strong app support, the SOUNDPEATS Air5 Pro earbuds are hard to beat. With a solid set of features, they punch well above their price tag. While the build may feel underwhelming, the performance and user experience speak volumes. For those looking for a reliable alternative to AirPods Pro without compromising on audio fidelity or smart features, the Air5 Pro is a strong contender.
