SongArc brings your favorite songs to life.
Several years ago, my friends and I were enamored with games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. We would play for hours and have a great time doing it. Even though we have since outgrown that activity, I still find the music-based games enjoyable. Today, they have evolved past the living room and into the palm of your hands. SongArc for iOS is a great example of this.
SongArc is a groundbreaking music game that is making its worldwide debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) this year. The best part about SongArc is that you aren’t confined to a simple song list given to your app. You can play multiple styles of music – anytime, anywhere. To date, SongArc has been downloaded by more than 1.6 million Windows Phone users and now, the fun is being spread to iOS and Android users. Some of SongArc’s key features are:
Incredibly addictive gameplay with expressive gestures for phones or tablets.
- Play any song, anywhere: All genres welcome!
- A sophisticated built-in “Sheet Creator” lets you create and share how you play.
- An easy way for upcoming artists to grow their fan base and sell more albums.
- Free content from amazing Featured Artists.
- Earn trophies and go for the top spot in the online leaderboards!
András Velvárt, CEO of SongArc Kft: “SongArc is much more than a music game. Our ‘Featured Artists’ program is revolutionary — and it’s a surefire way for artists to grow their fan base while increasing album and concert ticket sales.”
The cool thing about SongArc is that it allows you to use your entire music library in the game. That means you don’t have to purchase separate music packs. There is also a wide range of licensed music to play thanks to a ‘Featured Artist’ program. Featured Artists are up-and-coming bands from around the world who write and perform a wide-range of musical styles.
To play SongArc, you tap the screen and the shapes as they reach the arc. It’s fun, but somewhat challenging, as I quickly found. The neat thing about this particular game is that you can create your own song sheets for your own personal interpretation of the songs.
SongArc is something I enjoy playing. As I mentioned it it fairly challenging to hit the shapes right on the arc, but it’s great fun to try. The app is free to download and available in the iTunes App Store.
