A nice executive case for basic work functions.

I have a bag problem. I, like some other women, like to collect carrying cases and I really haven’t found the one yet. I like having different styles of bags and one of the types I have been searching for is a rolling bag. I want a bag that can not only hold my laptop but also carry my accessories and basically be a home away from home. I like to be prepared. So, when the opportunity to try out the SOLO Classic Leather Rolling Case, I jumped on it.

This rolling case is made out of full-grain leather, which means it’s very durable. “Full-grain” leather is the strongest part of an animal hide. It’s very tight and it resists moisture very well. Over time, full-grain leather will gain a nice patina from being handled. The Classic Leather Rolling Case only comes in black and I’ve noticed that even though a patina isn’t as noticeable with black colored leather, I can say that it’s holding up very well.

The inside of the case has a fully-padded laptop compartment. It can fit laptops up to 15.6 inches. Even though it is padded, there is a lot of room for a laptop, especially the thinner models, to slide around. I stored my 13-inch MacBook Pro (mid-2014 model) in the laptop compartment. My MBP has a case on it to help prevent scratches and dents from happening, but there was still quite a bit of room for it to move. I would recommend sliding your laptop into a neoprene sleeve to add a bit more padding so that it doesn’t slide around.

In addition to the laptop compartment, there is also a file section on the inside. There is plenty of room for files and paperwork. I tended to use it for my iPad Pro (12-inch) and a full sized (8.5×11) planner. I didn’t have any issues with both those items fitting in there. On the reverse side of the case, there is a secondary storage space where the telescoping handle folds down. You can’t store much there, but if you had a second pair of shoes or smaller accessories, you could keep them there. While I like the telescoping handle, I don’t really like that in order to use it, you have to keep that back section open part way. Finally, there are zippered pockets on the front of the case that make it easy to organize items like cables, pens, pencils, and other small items.

SOLO Classic Leather Rolling Case REVIEW

While I think that there are a lot of nice features to the Classic Leather Rolling Case, I found, after using it for a couple of weeks, that it’s just not for me. My things fit into it ok, but I feel like I need something with a little more structure. I felt like my belongings were just too loose inside the main compartment and unless you are rolling it, it’s not very easy to carry by the handles.

If you have basic working needs, this rolling case is a nice option and it’s very well made.
