Social Prenup Review:
A powerful image consent app.
Growing up in a non-digital age, I didn’t have to worry so much about what my friends were saying or posting about me online. I also didn’t have to worry about my personal information or photos being stolen and reposted throughout the world. My information was safeguarded to the walls of my home. Around the time I was a sophomore in high school, people started using email. Then, my friends began chatting online. A few years later, online profiles on sites like MySpace became a reality. Now, we live in an online sharing world free-for-all that is open to anyone who can sign up for an email account. With that in mind, people are starting to become increasingly more concerned about social media privacy. Developer Private Social, LLC created the iOS app, Social Prenup specifically to help provide added safety for your images that are stored online.
Social Prenup is a tool for users to utilize when sharing images online. You can arm yourself against malicious attacks or illegal sharing of your personal imagery by using this image consent app. It creates legally binding documents between two users and requires them to get consent before posting any images or video of each other. This can be particularly useful between two individuals who are in a relationship.
It’s a sad fact that there are 16 out of our 50 United States that actually have laws against ‘revenge porn,’ but the truth is that cyber bullying can happen to anyone for any reason. In the other 34 states, there is no legislation that help prevent jilted lovers from turning a shared intimate moment into something harmful. Social Prenup helps prevent this from happening by providing a legally binding contract between the two parties.
Some of the main features of Social Prenup include:
- Pre-drafted legal contracts available immediately
- Easily distribute Social Prenup photo consent capabilities within the app or via email
- Approve or deny specific pictures for posting from your friends within the app
- Five free contract credits available when app is installed and in-app purchases are available for more contracts
- Enjoy funny notification messages and hashtags as you collect contracts
- Available in English and Spanish
So, once I found out about Social Prenup, I decided to check it out. It’s a free app with in-app purchases. Each prenup costs you one credit and the developer start you out with 5 free credits. For the purposes of this test, I only used the free credits, but I did review the choices for credit packages and they range from $0.99 per credit all the way up to $9.99 for 100 credits.
Once you have created an account, which is also free, you can then begin creating or managing prenups in your account. The first time you start a prenup, you see a short video that walks you through the process along with some helpful hints. Then you are presented with a disclaimer about the prenup process. It’s 12 pages long on an iPhone screen, but since this app is intended for legally binding contracts, I would advise reading through it. From here, it’s as easy as entering a friend or family member’s contact information and tapping send for them to review the agreement.
The app is fairly intuitive and it walks the user through the process very efficiently. I would recommend this to anyone who regularly shares their person images or video online. For more infomration, visit socialprenup.com.
