Securing Your Business with Managed IT Services: Why Cybersecurity is Critical

Cyberattacks are currently one of the most pressing concerns for both large and small businesses. As businesses become more dependent on different technologies, the risk of cyber threats seems unstoppable. Therefore, companies should understand the effect of cybersecurity.

At its core, cybersecurity is a set of technologies, processes, and practices aimed at protecting systems from cyber risks such as attacks. Also known as information technology (IT) security, it plays a key role in preventing cyber threats by stopping hackers from damaging corporate assets. Maintaining a high level of cybersecurity allows you to achieve your business objectives without interruption while maintaining control over your network resources. Why is cybersecurity important? Read to know more.

Increase in Cybercrimes

Whether you are a small business or a large enterprise, cyberattacks can have serious consequences. This is because every company has many important assets that hackers can exploit. In some cases, it concerns the personal data of companies and customers. Sometimes it’s just a matter of “money”. Last year, we had 270 cyberattacks with unauthorized access to data, applications, services, networks, and devices per company, a 31% increase compared to 2020. Cybercrime is increasing year by year and active cybersecurity is the only solution.

Increase in Technology

We all allocate a lot of time to using computers, which means there is a golden space for cybercriminals. Cloud services are booming, as are serverless aggregating, edge computing, and API services. Combined with container orchestration such as Kubernetes, growth can be skillfully automated and dynamically fitted to different situations.

Use of IoT Devices

The advent of Internet of Things or IoT technology has enabled us to simplify our jobs, but it has also made us major targets for hackers. IoT devices are dressed with various types of sensors and use progressive technology for continuous connectivity and data exchange, making them more vulnerable to data breaches. It doesn’t matter how forward your security measures are. These Internet-connected devices pose a danger if not managed properly.

Cloud Transformation

Another reason cybersecurity is important is the continued migration to cloud services. Most companies today use the cloud in some way, whether it’s to simplify business growth, store customer data, enhance their remote personnel strategy, or for other reasons.

Like any technically complex system, cloud deployments offer many security benefits, but they can also present security risks, especially if the cloud setting is not properly secured, and is expected to continue to exist.

Cryptocurrency and Deep Web

The Deep Web, also known as the Dark Web, is an assortment of websites that are invisible to search engines and hide passwords and other security tools behind them. Users remain anonymous, as access to these websites or pages is only possible via a special web browser. The dark web is comparable to a hidden realm where illegal activities such as personal information distribution, software distribution, piracy, drug, and human trafficking, illegal distribution of weapons, and many other unthinkable illegal activities take place.

Cryptocurrencies have also become a favorite of attackers. As Bitcoin’s price hits all-time highs, attacks are intensifying and threat actors are looking for profit. End users have long struggled with phishing attacks, information theft, and malware that swaps wallet addresses in memory. More and more attacks are being performed directly against smart contracts

Bottom Line

Connected devices, a growing number of remote workers, and a growing cybersecurity skills shortage are just a few of the major challenges facing organizations today, making cybersecurity a growing business imperative. For instance, in Australia, companies like Unlimited 247 Tech offer managed IT support Brisbane businesses rely on to prevent potential cybersecurity breaches and attacks. Without a comprehensive cybersecurity program, it can be difficult for small businesses and large enterprises to adequately protect themselves from cybercrime and the growing number of cyber threats that exist today.
