The Rain i360 24″ let’s you turn your monitor at the push of a finger.
Technology gadgets have come such a long way since the day of the old clunky box-style monitors. Now, there are stylish, sleek super flat-screen displays that have as much style as the mobile devices that everyone has. Unfortunately, when you think about accessories, most people think of products for iPhone, iPad or MacBooks. Even though numerous manufacturers focus on making add-ons for those most-popular Apple products, you can’t forget about the displays. Rain Design, Inc. has been making award-winning complimentary products for Apple since 2003 and one piece that I’ve been fortunate to work with is the i360 24”.
The i360 24″ is a turntable that allows you to easily spin your iMac, Apple Cinema Display or Thunderbolt Display in 360 degrees. There are two versions of this product – the i360, which is compatible with the 20” & 21” iMac and the 20” & 23” Cinema Displays; the i360 24” is compatible with the 24” & 27” iMac, Cinema Display and Thunderbolt Displays.
The turntable is constructed from aluminum and steel with an aluminum-colored plastic cover that encloses the base. Once you have the display in place you can use the screw provided to tighten it into place. The i360 24” is very heavy and I have no doubt that my Cinema Display is securely weighted on this turntable.
One of the reasons that I was so thrilled about this product is because it gives me the option to spin my display around easily to share my work with others. I can collaborate with clients and colleagues without having to chance scratching the surface of my desk or picking up the display and physically turning it around. As promised by its description, the i360 24” spins around flawlessly with just the touch of a finger.
The only issue I ended up having was caused by the lack of flexibility of my cables. I have all of my cables wrapped and as a result they don’t have much slack. Because of that, I don’t have quite a great turning radius as some might have. I would suggest that if you are like me and wrap your cables, that when you install the i360 24” that you redo your cabling so that you have enough slack.
If you have an iMac, Apple Cinema Display or Thunderbolt Display, you really should look into investing in this exceptional, well-built accessory. Depending on the size you need for your device, the i360 can be purchased for $39.90 (i360) or $44.90 (i360 24”).
