Apple iOS’s personal assistant, Siri, has the ability to add items to your Reminder app by using the command, “Set a reminder.” This is a fairly well-known command and used frequently when Siri is demonstrated. One very useful function that is a little less well-known is Siri’s ability to add items to custom lists within the Reminder app. Here is a step-by-step how to guide on how to use this function.
1) Open the Reminder app and set up a custom list by selecting the ‘list’ icon in the upper left-hand corner. This will open a menu of custom lists.
2) Select ‘Create New List’ and fill in a name for your new list.
3) Tap ‘Done’ and close the app.
4) The next time you want to add an item to that list such as, bread to a grocery list, simply activate Siri and say, “Add bread to grocery list,” and Siri will respond with, “OK, I can add this to your ‘Grocery’ list in Reminders,” and ask if you want to confirm.
This is a very useful function within Siri. How many times have you been driving down the road and remember you need to pick up milk, but you forget what you wanted to get once you reached the store? I would also suggest using this to assist with holiday shopping ideas.
