Efficient charger a great value for the user
I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many options to power your devices. I have kept nearly every power adapter I’ve ever received with an iPhone and have amassed a nice collection of third-party wall adapters since then. Since every important technology item I use is rechargeable, I like to make sure I have myself covered so that I never run out of power options. Even though individual power adapters are great when you only have to charge a single device, I like to have more diverse options like the PowerPort Speed PD 5. The charger is a premium 60W 5-port desktop charger that features four USB-A ports and one USB-C power delivery port. It’s ideal for adding into workspaces or taking on the road.

DETAILS
The PowerPort Speed PD 5 is designed to work with multiple types of devices. The USB-C port provides 30W of power delivery for larger items such as the Apple MacBook. The remaining four USB-A ports feature PowerIQ, a technology that intelligently recognizes devices so that the port can boost charging speeds without overcharging the connected device. Users have the option to charge five devices simultaneously while only using one wall outlet. The PowerPort Speed PD 5 has advanced safety features like surge protection and temperature control. It’s also incredibly durable thanks to its scratch-resistant and smudge-proof exterior. The device also has drop-protection built into it – so it’s an extra tough charger.

USER EXPERIENCE
The charger comes in a nice retail box even though there is no image of the product on the exterior. With the exception of the name on the front, there is no other way to identify the device from the outside of the box. I would recommend that maybe an image be added to the box so that potential buyers can easily identify the item from the box. While this isn’t a dealbreaker, I still find it useful as a consumer. When you remove it from the box you’ll find the charger, its power cable, an adhesive strip, a Welcome Guide, and a Velcro cable strap. There is no assembly required and the charger is ready to use out of the box.

When you plug the charger into the wall, a power indicator light illuminates on the front of the device. One of the things I really like about the design of this charger is that its exterior is designed so that you can mount it beneath your desk or on your desktop so that you always have access to power for your USB powered devices. I personally like having extra charging ports available so that you never have to search for a power adapter for charging a device.

To test the charger, I plugged my iPhone into one of the USB-A ports using a standard Apple Lightning cable. After 30 minutes of charging, the phone gained 32% power. That was an average charging rate of 1.06% per minute. So, after my charging test with the iPhone 12 Pro, the PowerPort Speed PD 5 proved to be an efficient charger. It’s very lightweight so it’s ideal to throw into an overnight bag when you take trips.
CONCLUSION
The PowerPort Speed PD 5 is a reasonably priced multi-port charger that offers portability and accessibility to the user. It does a great job of charging devices efficiently and doesn’t overheat while doing it. At 30W of output power, it has the ability to charge smaller laptops and can charge other devices very quickly. This is a good option for charging multiple devices at one time while you’re at your desk or on the go.
