Dual 4K displays, 96W charging, and 13 ports, built for native GPU performance and seamless Apple integration from Plugable.
Plugable, a leading innovator in docking solutions and connectivity products, announces the launch of the TBT-UDM, a Thunderbolt 4 docking station designed with Apple users in mind. Marrying performance with aesthetics, the TBT-UDM is a premium aluminum dock that delivers dual 4K HDMI support, 96W host charging, and 13 versatile ports, all in a sleek aluminum chassis tailored to complement modern Mac setups, like the latest M4 Macs with full dual-display support.
The TBT-UDM builds on the success of Plugable’s award-winning Thunderbolt lineup, offering technical specs and aesthetics to complement Apple’s latest MacBooks. With native support for dual 4K 60Hz HDMI displays, a downstream Thunderbolt 4 port that supports a display up to 8K 30Hz, or high-speed peripherals, and driverless plug-and-play compatibility across macOS and Windows, the TBT-UDM is the ultimate upgrade for creative professionals, hybrid workers, and Mac power users.
“With all Apple M4 models—and Pro/Max chips across M3 and M4—now supporting dual displays natively over Thunderbolt, and even M3 base models enabling it in clamshell mode, it was the perfect time to launch a dock that not only works flawlessly, but looks right at home in any Mac setup,” said Bernie Thompson, CTO and Founder of Plugable. “This dock isn’t for base M1 and M2 Macs, which only support a single external display. But for every other Apple Silicon Macbook, the TBT-UDM delivers full GPU-powered graphics with no drivers required, all wrapped in aluminum that matches Apple’s design from every angle.”
Designed for the Modern Mac Desk
Apple M4 systems, Pro/Max chips, and M3 base models with the lid closed now support dual extended external displays natively through Thunderbolt. This milestone enables docks like the TBT-UDM to offer full native performance without relying on software workarounds like DisplayLink. With that in mind, Plugable created the TBT-UDM to blend seamlessly into Apple workspaces while delivering professional-grade functionality.
Wrapped in a premium aluminum shell, the dock features two HDMI 2.0 ports for dual 4K 60Hz display output, a 96W host charging port, and 13 total connections, including USB-C, USB-A, UHS-II SD and microSD card readers, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3.5mm audio jack. There’s also a downstream Thunderbolt 4 port for high-bandwidth accessories such as external SSDs, and displays. The result is a clutter-free, driverless experience that just works for everything from editing video and managing remote workflows to connecting high-speed peripherals.
Built for Creators, Hybrid Pros, and Power Users
The TBT-UDM was designed to serve a wide range of users who need maximum performance in a minimal footprint. Creative professionals benefit from fast card readers, full native graphics output, and dual high-resolution monitors without sacrificing desk space or aesthetics. Mac Mini and Studio users enjoy clean port access and a dock that complements their setup. Developers and remote workers get a one-cable connection that powers, connects, and simplifies everything.
Compatibility includes all Apple M4 systems, all Pro/Max models, and M3 base models with the lid closed. For base model M1 and M2 Mac users who would otherwise be limited to a single external screen, Plugable’s DisplayLink-based docks are recommended for dual display.
Premium Performance, Without the Premium Price
Launching at just $199.95 with a 20% discount at launch, the TBT-UDM significantly undercuts comparable Thunderbolt 4 docks, which often retail above $300. Included in the box are a 1-meter Thunderbolt 4 cable, a power supply, and Plugable’s two-year warranty backed by responsive U.S.-based support.
The TBT-UDM is now available on Plugable.com and Amazon.
The Caveats of Connecting to Mac
All M4 Macs support two external displays natively. Base M1 and M2 Macs support only one display natively. To connect two displays to a base M1 or M2, we recommend a Plugable DisplayLink dock. HDMI ports support up to 4K 60Hz; 4K 120Hz is not supported. For Apple Studio Display or LG UltraFine 5K, connect via the downstream Thunderbolt 4 port. No drivers required on macOS—plug and play. No eGPU support on Apple Silicon.
