Plugable’s first-of-its-kind 15.6” USB-C Portable Monitor with downstream USB-C ports and 85W pass-through charging is designed to be the centerpiece of the mobile, connected desk.
Plugable, experts in advanced connectivity announce the launch of its first-ever portable monitor, the Plugable 15.6” USB-C Portable Display (USBC-PDMON). This addition to Plugable’s product lineup represents a significant step into the display market, offering portability and functionality for professionals and tech enthusiasts alike.
This portable monitor with a 1920×1080 Full HD IPS display and 60Hz refresh rate is perfect for users at home, in the office, or on the go. Its lightweight design, integrated folding travel cover and stand, 85W pass-through charging, and two downstream 10Gbps USB-C ports make it an ideal solution for creating a mobile desk.
“We are incredibly excited for Plugable to make its first venture into the display market, leveraging our USB-C expertise,” said CTO Bernie Thompson. “We’ve created a portable display that is more powerful, flexible, and useful by getting rid of confusing legacy connectors and adapters and making the most of USB-C. IT managers and buyers can deploy this same portable monitor at scale in the office, for their hybrid and mobile staff, and in public spaces and trade shows.”
Revolutionizing Portability and Productivity
With a 15.6” full HD IPS display, users can enjoy stunning visuals with a 1920×1080 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate, perfect for multitasking, presentations, and entertainment.
Unlike traditional portable monitors that rely on mini-HDMI connections, the USBC-PDMON connects solely via USB-C, offering seamless integration with laptops, smartphones, and tablets that support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode, including Thunderbolt and USB4.
Equipped with one upstream and two downstream 10Gbps USB-C ports, the USBC-PDMON not only offers USB-C hub functionality but also supports 85W pass-through charging on one of the ports. This multifunctional design allows the monitor to serve as a hub for connecting additional peripherals while keeping your computer charged up.
Vibrant Viewing, Easy on the Eyes
The monitor’s IPS panel offers a 170° viewing angle with clear and vibrant visuals from almost any direction, while also reducing the eyestrain associated with the VA panels used in other portable monitors. With a brightness of 300 nits, the display provides sufficient illumination for indoor environments, maintaining clarity and color accuracy. Three buttons are accessible on the monitor’s side to control screen brightness and quick color mode toggling.
Additionally, the durable design includes a detachable and foldable cover that doubles as a sturdy stand, offering both protection and convenience for users commuting between workspaces.
A Monitor for Every Moment
At home, in the office, or on the go, the Plugable 15.6” USB-C Portable Display meets a diverse set of user needs.
At the office, two can be connected to a Thunderbolt hub like the Plugable TBT4-HUB3C to enable three total monitors while charging the Thunderbolt PC laptop. This is all done via USB-C, and with just a single cable back to the laptop. This also works for Apple systems with Pro and Max chips, which enable two external displays on Mac.
At home, its wide compatibility makes it ideal for remote workers, parents, and school-age kids to share when anyone needs extra-screen real estate for a video call or project. It is perfect for hybrid workers transitioning between home and office environments, maintaining productivity wherever they are.
On the go, its compact and lightweight design at just under 2 lbs (840g), additional downstream USB-C ports, and integrated folding travel cover make it an essential tool for professionals and students who require flexibility and mobility.
Depending on your setting, power the monitor by connecting it to a USB-C charging block (not included) and take advantage of 100W pass-through charging (85W to host), or rely on bus power directly from the laptop when connecting on the go.
