Smartwatch developer, Pebble, introduces Pebble Time to the world.

Today, Pebble revealed its latest product to the world – the Pebble Time. It joins the ranks of the smartwatch developer’s product line that includes the Pebble and the Pebble Steel. The newest addition to the Pebble line is a color e-paper smart watch with up to 7 days of battery and a timeline interface that highlights what’s important that day.

Pebble Time is full compatible with all 6,500+ existing Pebble apps and watch faces. Three colors – Black, White and Red – are available exclusively through its Kickstarter campaign, which kicks off today. In the first 20 minutes of its launch on Kickstarter, Pebble Time already has 2,800+ backers. Pebble is also offering a special engraving option for Kickstarter backers.

Pebble Time is approximately 20% thinner than the original Pebble and is ergonomically curved to fit comfortably on either wrist. The lens is crafted from scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass with a bezel made from stainless steel. It’s also water resistant and can be personalized easily by swapping out the watch bands.

Pebble Time has an anticipated to start shipping in May and a MSRP of $199. This announcement is happening at a good time for Pebble as it is between other major developers like the heavily anticipated Apple Watch, which is expected to be available for sale in mid-April.

Pebble launched its first product, the Pebble, in 2013 after a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. Their goal was surpassed many times over and they ended up with more than $10 million in crowd funds for their product. After much retail success, Pebble released the Pebble Steel, and upgraded, more upscale version of the Pebble smartwatch in 2014. They have gained some incredible partners along the way – eBay, Pandora, Jawbone, Evernote, Mercedes-Benz, the Weather Channel – and have kept their focus on developing cool watches that people love using everyday.
