PackPoint revolutionizes the way we pack for trips.
One of the issues I have with traveling is packing. I inevitably end up forgetting something and then am lost without it on my trip. I’ve tried all the old tricks – making a list, laying everything out on my bed, carefully planning out the steps of my trip – and I still end up leaving something behind. This is why I’m glad to have found PackPoint for iOS.
While there are dozens of list-making apps available, PackPoint generates lists based on where you are traveling and what activities you are participating in while you are traveling. It’s an intelligent list builder that helps you create lists based on the ‘basics’ for certain activities. When you first open the app, you are asked to identify your gender. Then, you designate where you are traveling to, when your trip starts, your length of stay and what type of trip – business or leisure – it is.
There are a variety of activities that you can choose from after you define the basic destination information. The pre-loaded activities include swimming, fancy dinner, running, bicycling, hiking, baby, beach, international, snow sports, working, camping, gym, photography and motorcycling. Once you decide what you want to do on your trip, then you select ‘repeat basics’ and ‘laundry’ if you want PackPoint to include the designated basic list, which includes toiletries and personal basics. Once you select ‘begin packing’, your list is generated.
The list is divided by the activities you select. You have the ability to add items to each category or hide them if it’s not something you will use. Users can also share your lists through Message, Mail, Twitter or Facebook. You can also delete the list completely, reset the list, create a new trip or revert to saved trips. One of the features I really like is that on the list screen, the weather for the destination city is shown at the top of screen.
PackPoint builds a packing list takes into account the following –
- Business or leisure activity
- Activities you plan on doing
- What you need for an international trip
- Warm weather clothes
- Cold weather clothes
- Items specific to the weather forecast
PackPoint is free to download and is currently on version 1.0. It was just released July 16, 2014. I am excited about this app as I think it could drastically change how we pack for trips. For more information, visit http://www.packpnt.com.
