olloclip 4-in-1 Lens for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus provides exceptional quality in a small, portable package.
This past weekend I found myself at our church’s Easter Egg Hunt. It was a fun event that involved a LOT of kids. Let me tell you, when you are dealing with 100 little kids ages 1 – 12 AND their parents, you have to be quick with a camera in order to capture any of their antics. I was lucky to be participating as a volunteer and helping little ones with their craft project and then helping to herd them as they searched for their eggs on our church’s property. I was also lucky enough to have the olloclip 4-in-1 lens with me so that I could click pictures quickly without feeling like I missed anything.
In the past couple of weeks, we have also released reviews of olloclip’s two other lenses – Telephoto and Macro 3-in-1. The 4-in-1 lens is as it states, four lenses in one – Fisheye, Wide-angle, 10x Macro and 15x Macro. Since we took a close look at the Macro lens a few weeks back, we will showcase the Fisheye and Wide-Angle options more in this review.
As with the other two lenses, this one has also been redesigned to accompany the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The lens is pocket-sizes, patented and now works on both front and rear-facing cameras so that you can use it for selfies as well as regular photographs. One of the coolest improvements that I definitely took advantage of in this egg-hunt outing is that olloclip includes three wearable pendants with the lens. They have made it more portable so that the camera you have with you is always accessorized with advanced-optic lenses.
olloclip ensures that the 4-in-1 lens is easily attached just like its other products for iPhone. They want you to stay on the go and not have to stop in order to capture a moment in time. This was especially true for me this weekend. As I stood by the street making sure none of the little kids ran out into it, they ran in a flurry of activity into the egg hunt field. I quickly pulled out my phone and threw the lens onto it. As you can see from the example, the kids moved really quickly and I mainly captured the adults. Even though the subject wasn’t exactly what I hoped, you can see the difference between the Wide Angle lens shot and the regular one.
I did end up taking full advantage of the wearable pendant and lanyard provided by olloclip. Since I was a volunteer at this event, I found myself running around in several directions and having the lens hanging around my neck, easily accessible, was a welcome addition to my wardrobe that day. It was secure and very comfortable to wear. I was very surprised at how lightweight it was. In all honesty, it was lighter than some necklaces.
The other lens, the Fisheye, is something that I don’t readily use. It’s a special effects lens that is really only used in certain cases and when you are attempting to get a certain effect in-camera. I did test out the lens on an Easter lily that was on display for the Easter Sunday service. I was actually quite fond of this shot as it also showcases one of the stained glass windows in our church. Again, since I was helping to set-up the service decorations, it was important to be quick and having the olloclip in hand so that I could capture that special photo was very efficient.
I continue to be impressed by the olloclip lenses. They help improve pictures being taken with an already exceptional camera. The olloclip 4-in-1 lens for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is available for $79.99 (MSRP) and it available in 5 different color combinations – Silver Lens/Black Clip, Gold Lens/White Clip, Red Lens/Black Clip, Dark Grey Lens/Black Clip and Silver Lens/White Clip.
As with the other newly redesigned lenses from olloclip, this one also comes with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus adapters. Be sure to select the correct one for your model iPhone or your lens won’t be as stable as it can be and your photo quality will suffer as a result.
