Regain working space on your desktop.
Seven months ago, I found myself working from home 100% of the time. I had started a new job and all of the employees were working remotely because of the pandemic. When this transition happened, I was provided a 16-inch MacBook Pro for my daily work, which matched nicely with my personal 13-inch MacBook Pro. The only issue I really had was desk space for both of the laptops. I connect my laptop to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse through a Thunderbolt dock and before the 16-inch laptop joined the desk, I had a single vertical laptop stand. For a while, I had two vertical laptop stands on one side of my desk – one for each laptop. Then, I was introduced to the Dual Vertical Laptop Stand by Oakywood, which changed my workflow for the better.
The Dual Vertical Laptop Stand is made of wood – walnut or oak – and it allows users to store two devices at one time. It can hold laptops or tablets up to 2cm thick. Even though the majority of the stand is made from wood, the base is solid steel for added stability. Each stand is hand-made in Oakywood workshops so that the natural texture of the wood is preserved. The stand has a double slot design and is compatible with tablets, eReaders, and laptops. Its geometric shape is designed to match all the other Oakywood accessories.
The stand arrives in a very nice box. There is a picture of the product on the front and back of the box. There is minimal product information included on the box and the “One Tree Planted” initiative logo is prominent on the back. Part of Oakywood’s mission is to be a sustainable company and they have a program that is designed to ensure that whatever is taken from the Earth is given back. So, even though their wood is sourced from sustainable locations in Europe and the USA, Oakywood has partnered together with the One Tree Planted organization to plant one tree for every product purchased. The goal is to “reforest the planet, one tree at a time.” I find this to be a very awe-inspiring cause and personally, it encourages me to purchase products from Oakywood whenever possible so that I can give back to the environment.
The set-up for the stand is very minimal. Once you remove it from the box, you simply set it on your desk and then slide the laptop or tablet into it. The stand does come with some small felt pads that can be used to increase the padding for slimmer devices. I actually used a couple of the pads for my two MacBook Pros so they wouldn’t sway back and forth too much. The felt pads help, but my laptops do tilt back and forth a bit. The stand is gorgeous and fits perfectly with the decor of my office. It’s just heavy enough to balance the two laptops and I’ve not experienced any issues with ventilation or my laptops overheating at all. They have both been functioning very well and continue to work just fine in closed clamshell mode.
One of the things I like the best about this stand is that it has a very small footprint on my desk. As I mentioned above, I was using two vertical stands for the laptops and this dual stand replaced those items on my desk. This helped to preserve some of my desktop space so that I can have more room for work. The laptops are neatly tucked away on the side of my workspace and I have no problem with connecting them to my desktop dock.
Oakywood’s Dual Vertical Laptop Stand can really helps to clean up desktop space. I’m very happy with what this stand has done for me and think that others might be able to regain some of their space, too. Even though this is a bit more expensive than some other stand options, it does work very well and provides resources back to the environment as well.
