News Cubus Games Launches Kickstarter for Frankenstein Wars:
Frankenstein’s secrets raise an unstoppable army from the dead. Rival factions battle for supremacy. Interactive story of war & horror.
Today, gaming developer, Cubus Games, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund its latest gaming venture, the Frankenstein Wars.
Cubus Games is a special group composed of experienced app developers and gamebook enthusiasts who are dedicated to bring interactive stories to life within gamebook apps. Their ‘choose your own adventure’ style of gaming include original soundtracks, illustrations and of course, incredible stories. We’ve had the pleasure of reviewing two of their gamebooks – Sol Invictus and Necklace of Skulls.
Now, with Frankenstein Wars, Cubus Games seeks to bring the story of two brothers (heirs of Victor Frankenstein) to life. Even if you’re a fan of gamebook apps, Cubus Games promises an adventure that sweeps across an entire alternative universe.
SUMMARY
Tom and Anton Clerval have long guarded the secret to Victor Frankenstein’s resurrection technology. In revolutionary France, in 1827, that secret at last comes to light. The radical Zeroiste movement creates an army of the reanimated dead to seize control of the country, and then to cross the Channel to strike at the heart of the British Empire. Only Tom and Anton have the power to halt the Zeroistes – or to stoke the flames of all-out war.
“The Frankenstein Wars is the dream project I’ve been waiting to do for over a decade. It’s a true interactive blockbuster that weaves the lives of our heroes and villains against a backdrop of hellish war with the soul of humanity at stake.” – Dave Morris, British Author and Game Designer.
Some of the key features of Frankenstein Wars include:
- Exploring interactive maps to reach your objectives.
- Directing both Tom and Anton Clerval through a branching, non-linear storyline – and you decide if the brothers become allies, or enemies.
- Time-sensitive Storylines – the longer you take, the better prepared your opponents will be.
- Weather affects the game, not just for aesthetics but for the story (you know weather has changed the history in surprising ways).
- Directing whole battalions in narrated strategic battles.
- Dozens of original illustrations by Rafater.
- An immersive soundtrack (Cubus Games house brand).
- Availability on iOS/Android platforms.
Because this is such an important project for game designer, Dave Morris, and the team at Cubus Games, they really want to share this project globally and have decided to fund the gamebook’s development through a Kickstarter Campaign.
In addition to funding the development, Cubus Games is also working with Save the Children, a global effort that seeks to give children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. Because Cubus Games is dedicated to both the game’s development and the Save the Children movement, 3% of the funds raised through this campaign will be donated to the cause.
The campaign will run through July 2 and seeks to raise $8,759 USD. It has currently raised $635 USD and has 27 backers. There are some very unique rewards for backers that include a one-on-one Skype chat with the designer, Dave Morris, and the honor of choosing the name of one of the minor characters within the gamebook.
