MyRadar, the top weather app that provides real-time, animated weather radar specific to the user’s immediate area, takes advantage of this year’s Sun ‘N Fun International Fly-In and Expo as the backdrop to announce the availability of digital aviation charts, now in MyRadar, as well as the premier of its aviation VR Experience.
“We’ve really been looking forward to Sun ‘N Fun this year. I’m a huge aviation buff, as a pilot, myself. MyRadar is a perfect fit for any pilot on-the-go looking for a quick-reference, pre-flight checkup on flight conditions before hitting the runway and the new aviation chart features will only increase the app’s usefulness as a pre-flight checkup tool,” said Andy Green, CEO of ACME. “This year at the expo the virtual reality experience we’re showcasing is a phenomenal way for everybody to see what it’s like first-hand in the seat of a real acrobatic plane. We’re also proud to sponsor 2015 National and 2016 European Air Race Champion, Scott Farnsworth. Scott pilots the MyRadar XtremeAir XA42 throughout the US and Europe competing in low-level pylon racing and helped us capture all the amazing footage for the VR Experience.”
The new aviation charts services featured in MyRadar include both VFR Sectionals and IFR High- and Low-Altitude charts. These charts can be used as background maps for all of the weather and aviation data overlays in MyRadar, including TFRs, AIRMETs and SIGMETs, surface wind animations, flight tracks and ATC flight plans, and of course, our high-quality, fast and accurate high definition weather radar data.
The MyRadar VR Experience, produced by bRandom Media, will transform the 35-foot MyRadar bus into a complete installation with two rooms and a choice of five different VR Experiences. The VR participant is strapped tightly in the front seat of the most advanced certified aerobatic aircraft currently available. The MyRadar VR Experience showcases footage taken from inside the cockpit of the MyRadar Race #38 XtremeAir, piloted by National Air Race Champion Scott Farnsworth as he does everything from 360 freestyle acrobatics, flying barely above Nevada’s Pyramid Lake at over 230 mph, to executing a Hammerhead and Tail-sliding thrill ride. The VR pilot will experience the thrill of 10G maneuvers, the 315hp engine pulling its carbon fiber, advanced aerodynamic speed machine through the sky.
The footage was shot with the OZO Nokia camera and will be viewed through the best Pimax VR headset. Attendees will be able to see and feel what it’s like to accomplish death-defying stunts inside the most advanced certified aerobatic aircraft currently available. This thrilling experience was produced by utilizing the best technology on the market.
“This VR experience installation isn’t for the faint of heart. Scott shows off high-speed acrobatics, flying through boulders on the bank of a lake, and more,” said Brandon Kelly, Owner of bRandom Media. “We are taking the experience to the next level with this installation. Turning a normal bus into another world for viewers is accomplished through the top of the line headsets, the design of the interior, and racecar style seating.”
The MyRadar Aviation VR Experience installation will be open to attendees of the Sun ‘N Fun Expo April 4-9th in Lakeland, FL. Following the event, this thrilling experience will be available online for anyone with access to a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
