A cut above the rest.
This time of year I always find myself in the midst of a hunt for the perfect winter weather gear. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to review the SCOTTeVEST Revolution Plus Winter Coat. This ended up being the perfect winter weather companion for someone like me — someone who likes to carry tech gear around with them. Ever since I found that piece of gear, I’ve been trying to find a comparable set of touchscreen gloves that will both insulate my hands from the cold and be functional with my touchscreen devices. The Mujjo Insulated Touchscreen Gloves can do just that.
DETAILS & FEATURES
Mujjo’s Touchscreen Gloves are compatible with all capacitive touchscreen devices including the Apple iPhone 11, Galaxy S10, Apple iPad, and the Apple Watch. The gloves are designed to provide the user with an ‘unrestricted’ experience. They mimic the conductive properties of the skin, which enables users to use all five fingers as well as the palm of their hands to interact with their touchscreen devices. The durable material is smooth and is designed to resist the wind. It’s laminated with 3M Thinsulate for additional protection from the elements. The inside of the gloves is lined with polar fleece for an additional layer of insulation and comfort.
The Insulated Touchscreen Gloves have been optimized for use with the larger touchscreen devices so that users can reach the corners of those larger objects. Finally, the silicone pattern on the gloves has been revamped from previous versions to look cleaner while remaining functional. The grip lines, which are made from sticky silicone, are strategically placed on the part of your hand that touches your device. The gloves are available in black with four size choices — small, medium, large, and extra-large.
The Mujjo Insulated Touchscreen Gloves are packaged in a simple plastic sleeve that can hang from a retail rack. The package is a little sophisticated because it’s branded. The bag is black with the name of the product stamped on the front. There is also a very vibrant image of the product on the front. The back features detailed information on the product. If I were to find these gloves on a shelf, the information would definitely outline what I need to know about the product in order to buy it. One very interesting feature of the packaging is the temperature thermometer on the front and back. It shows what climate the gloves are best used in. Mujjo has these gloves rated ‘for use in moderate cold climates.’
When I put the gloves on for the first time, I noticed how soft the inside was and how luxurious they felt. My hands warmed up quickly when I wore them for a little while. My fiance has notoriously cold hands — especially this time of year — and she tried them out, too. She said that within about 5 minutes her hands were warming up to a normal temperature. When I wore them outside, I did experience wind resistance from the gloves. It’s been particularly windy around my house this past week so I wore the Mujjo gloves outside when I walked our dog. While my face and hair were windblown, my hands stayed toasty warm.
As far as touch-functions go, I would have to rate the Mujjo gloves between a 7-8 out of 10. The majority of the time, I was able to make a connection between the touchscreen and my gloved fingers, but I did experience some issues with accuracy and consistency of function. The grip lines really make it easy to ensure your phone or tablet stays firmly in your hands, but I did feel as though my fingers were somewhat stiff and that made it difficult to type any messages longer than a few letters. I did notice that the swipe keyboard on iOS works really well with these gloves.
Overall, the Mujjo Insulated Touchscreen Gloves are a very nice winter weather companion. While they aren’t as articulate as I would like, they do still function well and provide users with the ability to use their touchscreen devices while keeping their hands warm. The gloves retail for approximately $50 USD.
