A great charging stand includes unique special features.
One of my favorite features of the newest iPhone models is the MagSafe charging ability. I hate it when I put my phone on a wireless charger and it doesn’t end up charging because the charging coils don’t line up. The MagSafe feature ensures that the phone connects with the charging coil exactly so that it always charges. I love portable batteries also take advantage of magnetic charging and I was particularly excited to learn about the Snap+ Powerstation Charging Stand from Mophie.

DETAILS
The Snap+ Powerstation Charging Stand is a magnetic, portable wireless battery. It’s compatible with MagSafe charging (but not MagSafe accessories) and has a 10,000 mAh internal battery. It’s designed to be used with iPhone 12 models, iPhone 13 models, and Qi-enabled devices. The iPhone can continue being used while charging and users can utilize landscape or portrait mode. The battery has a tripod socket (standard 1/4 inch – 20 threads/square inch) for added stability during video calls, streaming, or content creation. The stand is adjustable and can be folded onto the battery when not in use. The magnetic array ensures that a device is placed correctly every time. The battery recharges with a USB-C port. A snap adapter is included.

USER EXPERIENCE
The Snap+ Powerstation Charging Stand comes in a standard Mophie retail package. The box is mostly white with black lettering. There is an image of the product on the front and some details of the product. The back of the box has additional features of the charger including additional images. When you open the box, you will reveal the battery inside a cardboard sleeve along with the quick start guide, the snap+ adapter ring, and a USB-C charging cable. The battery doesn’t require any setup or assembly. My battery had 50% power out of the box and while I would normally recommend charging any power bank to 100% before using it, I decided to test its charging capabilities immediately.

Even though the charger is primarily a wireless charger, the USB-C port is a two-way power delivery system. It can be used to charge the power bank or to charge non-wireless charging devices such as headphones. I used an iPhone 12 Pro to test the charging capabilities of the power bank. The iPhone 12 Pro is wireless charging compatible and also features MagSafe. I placed the phone on the charger directly on the MagSafe charging area and the phone started charging immediately.
The phone attaches to the power bank and rests slightly offset. I thought that was a little odd until I noticed that the offset meant that the camera system was not blocked and completely free to use even while it was charging. This falls in line with the design element of the tripod mount. I really love this design feature because it makes the power bank unique. It means that Mophie designers really considered the uses of modern iPhones as being more than just a smartphone. They looked at the fact that the current model of iPhones is designed to be used by photographers and videographers alike. The battery makes it possible for users to continue using the phone for a long while past the iPhone’s natural battery. That’s what really makes the power bank stand out to me. I’ve used other MagSafe compatible batteries that have a similar design, but none that have a tripod mount.

As far as the charging abilities of the Snap+ Powerstation Charging Stand go, I charged the iPhone for 30 minutes. Every ten minutes, I checked the power level of the phone’s battery and noted the charging progress. The phone gained 26% throughout the charging session which ended up being a 0.86% per minute charging rate. I thought that was a strong charging rate for a wireless power bank. As I mentioned, I’ve tested other power banks that are similar to this one and they weren’t as powerful as the Mophie. The last power bank I tested that was a MagSafe compatible wireless charger only provided a charging rate of 0.575% per minute.

CONCLUSION
Rechargeable power banks are sort of a dime a dozen these days and it can be very difficult to find the best one out there. The Mophie Snap+ Powerstation Charging Stand provides powerful charging capabilities and unique features. I would suggest this power bank over other options as it’s a much stronger investment than competitors’ products.
