An exceptionally versatile portable charger.
With portable chargers becoming more and more commonplace these days, it takes a special one to really stand out. Mophie has been a ‘stand-out’ company for many years in my opinion. They create reliable, efficient products that help users keep their devices powered. One of the main things I look for these days is versatility. I want something that can charge everything I have so that I don’t have to carry around more than one portable battery. The Powerstation Wireless XL is exceptional and loaded with charging features like compatibility with USB-C and Lightning devices.
DETAILS
The Powerstation Wireless XL has a capacity of 10,000mAh. It is designed as a wireless portable battery and provides up to 18W of power delivery using the USB-C and Lightning ports. USER EXPERIENCE
Mophie does a nice job with their product packaging. The Powerstation Wireless XL came in a white box with black and silver accents. There is a photo of the product on the front and some highlights called out. For example, there is a box that calls out the following details.
- +55HRS Extra Battery
- 50% Charge in 30 Minutes
- Wireless Input/Output
The back of the box has a second photo of the product and some additional details. The MFi logo is included on the back of the box, too. When you open the box you will find the battery and a quick start guide. The quick start guide is illustrated and it shows users that in order to activate the wireless charging of the Powerstation, you must press/hold the LED indicator button for 3 seconds. There is no cable included with the Powerstation. I’m assuming that Mophie did this on purposes since the battery can recharge wirelessly.

The first thing I did with the charger was to charge it up to 100%. I pulled out a Lightning cable and plugged it into a wall charger. It didn’t take long to recharge the battery and then I placed an iPhone 11 Pro on it and activated the wireless charging pad. The phone had a 29% charge when I placed it on the battery and after 48 minutes the phone gained 26%. This translated to a charging rate of 0.54% per minute. In addition to the iPhone, I also charged an 11-inch iPad Pro using the USB-C port. The iPad had a charge of 61% when it was plugged in. The iPad was actually charging at the same time the iPhone was on the wireless charging pad. After 48 minutes, the iPad had gained 33%. That ended up being a charging rate of 0.69% per minute. The rate that the iPhone charged on the wireless charging pad was incredibly fast and above the average charging rate that I’ve experienced with wireless chargers.

CONCLUSION
Mophie continues to amaze me as a company and with their product reliability. The Powerstation Wireless XL is remarkable and has proven to be a very efficient charger. It’s got a great design and while I wish it was a little bit lighter, it’s still compact enough to carry along most places.
