Mophie Portable Magnetic Stand REVIEW A Powerful Accessory Ideal for FaceTime Calls

Magnetic stand is one-of-a-kind in a sea full of chargers. 

Ever since Apple released phones that were compatible with MagSafe many charging stands have infiltrated the accessory market. Sometimes, you don’t want a charging stand though. You just want a stand. I have a friend that I always end up sharing FaceTime calls with. Most of the time, when I make these calls, I’m sitting at my desk with my phone stationed on a Mophie Snap+ Wireless Charging Stand. 

It’s a great option for charging while using the phone for things like FaceTime calls, but my friend constantly picks on me because I’m not looking right at the phone. I have the stand sitting off to the right of my desk instead of in the center. I don’t have that problem with the Mophie Portable Magnetic Stand, which can be moved anywhere on my desk – or off my desk for that matter.

The stand can hold the phone in landscape or portrait orientations and it folds up into a super-slim package. The magnetic stand features two metal hinges and a premium fabric covering. It looks great and is very durable. It’s ideal for traveling and comes with a 2-year warranty from Mophie. The stand will hold the iPhone while it’s in a case as long as the case is also MagSafe compatible.

USER EXPERIENCE

The magnetic stand comes in a nice Mophie-brand retail style box. There is an image of the product on the front with some of the features listed on the back. Mophie’s packages are always very nice and clean. I always appreciate their style. There isn’t a whole lot packaged with the stand except a quick start guide. Since it’s a very minimalist package, unboxing the magnetic stand didn’t require much on my part. Honestly, I just opened the box and it slid right out. 

The magnetic stand is very well made. It feels premium – just like all of Mophie’s products. It folds flat when you don’t need it, which is perfect for traveling or storage. The metal hinge inside the stand is strong. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all. Once you have it locked into place for your phone, it stays in place. I was actually quite impressed and surprised by how sturdy this little stand is. 

The magnet inside the stand is also incredibly powerful. I keep my iPhone 13 Pro in an Apple Leather case that is MagSafe compatible and I’ve not had any issues with the magnetic stand holding my phone tightly. My fiancé has tried it, too, with her iPhone 12 Pro. She currently has a third-party MagSafe compatible case on her phone and the Mophie magnetic stand worked just fine with it, too. 

I’ve been able to use this stand a lot since I got it and it’s solved one of my biggest problems – where to put my phone for FaceTime calls. I no longer have to worry about my friend poking fun of me because I’m not sitting straight in front of the camera. I can move the magnetic stand wherever I want and it holds my phone at the ideal angle for that type of use. 

CONCLUSION

The Mophie Portable Magnetic Stand lives up to its name. It holds a powerful magnet inside its frame, folds up to a pocket-sized accessory, and stands up with the iPhone. It’s a great accessory that I’m delighted has been released. Magnetic charging stands are a dime a dozen these days, but magnetic stands – that’s a different story. In my mind, there is only one.
