Last week I was fortunate enough to visit Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was a really cool experience, but leading up to the trip, I stressed over how to pack. I always end up taking too much stuff on trips and I wanted to try my hardest not to overpack this time around.

For the most part, my fiancé and I did a good job with personal items and we only used one suitcase between the two of us. As far as electronics go though, I had another problem to deal with – how to charge my essential mobile devices without having to take multiple cables and chargers. Fortunately, I had the 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe from Mophie.

The 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is a portable charging mat that is MagSafe compatible and is designed to charge an iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch with a single cable. The charger folds up for travel and lays flat for charging functionality. The charger comes packaged with a travel pouch, power adapter, and a USB-C charging cable. The inclusion of the MagSafe charger means that the iPhone is going to get charged every single time it hits the mat because it will be drawn to the optimal spot for charging. 

The charger features fast wireless charging up to 15W (with the proper wall adapter) and is specifically designed for travel. The mat has a built-in Apple Watch magnetic charger that flips up to hold the watch in Nightstand mode. The charger and its case are made with a premium fabric finish and Mophie includes a 2-year warranty with the kit.

USER EXPERIENCE

The charging kit comes in a typical Mophie box. It’s primarily white but features an image of the product on the front and Mophie’s black logo and branded lettering. There are many details of the product included on the box and an additional image on the back. There is an illustrated quick start guide that comes along with the kit, but even if you didn’t have it, you could figure out how to use the charger. 

I love form and function from accessories – especially when they are as well-made as the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe. The fabric of the case seems to be felt, which is durable and keeps other items it’s packed with safe. I ended up stowing this kit in my camera bag so I’m grateful that designed for travel and couldn’t hurt anything else. 

Inside the case, there are three distinct compartments – one for the charging mat, one for the power adapter, and one for the USB-C cable. The compartment for the power adapter is larger enough to accommodate a different charging brick if you wish. The one that Mophie includes is a 30W charger, which is powerful enough to provide fast-charging capabilities to your connected devices. 

The charging mat unrolls to lay flat on any tabletop. I used mine on a nightstand while we were out of town. It was the perfect option for charging my phone, earbuds and watch. I love that the watch charger gives users the option to charge the watch flat or in Nightstand mode. I opted for Nightstand mode most of the time because I feel that my watch stays connected to the charging area better. 

One thing I want to point out is that the MagSafe charging base for the iPhone is compatible with the iPhone 13 Pro – my model of iPhone. Before the 13 Pro, I had the 12 Pro and I used the Apple MagSafe travel charger. I found that when I switched to the 13 Pro the MagSafe puck on the Apple charger didn’t line up with the iPhone 13 Pro correctly. The camera system takes up a little more room on the back of the phone and that really makes a difference. There were several times that I found my phone wasn’t charged after placing it on the MagSafe charger. I finally discovered it was due to misalignment but with the Mophie charging base, I didn’t have this issue.

CONCLUSION

The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is the ultimate charging travel companion for Apple users. It’s durable convenient and you can be sure that your devices will get charged up for your next adventure. The charging kit does have a pretty hefty price point ($150 at the time of publishing), but if you travel a lot with your essential Apple devices, I think it’s worth the investment.
