Beautiful, eye-catching charger for Apple Watch and iPhone

I don’t ever want to find myself without power on my devices. So when it comes to charging, I know I can rely on Mophie to keep me juiced up. In fact, Mophie is who I trust to charge my iPhone Apple Watch and AirPods throughout my home. So when they released the new charging stations I was all about updating my gear for the latest power providing gear from Mophie. Their 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station is proudly on display in my home office while the 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Station is kept in our living room for easy charging while we enjoy family time together.

DETAILS

The 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Station is designed to provide users with the ability to charge both their Qi-enabled smartphone and Apple Watch at the same time. As an added bonus, there is also a standard USB port on the back of the charger for an additional device to be able to charge up while tethered to the stand. The stand provides up to 7.5W power delivery to connected devices. The stand is built with the Apple Watch charger integrated so that users don’t have to utilize their own Apple Watch charging cables and it’s compatible with Nightstand mode. The charging stand for the phone is designed to charge your phone whether it’s sitting in portrait or landscape mode. It is also fast-charge optimized for the iPhone and it is compatible with wireless charging through cases (up to 3mm thick). The charging stand has a sleek glass design to it. It isn’t made with glass, but the glass-like finish adds a sophisticated touch to it and makes it an easy accessory to display.

USER EXPERIENCE

Mophie’s packaging never disappoints. The box is very Apple-like in its design. It’s mostly white, but features the Mophie logo on the front along with a full-color photo of the product. The name of the product is clearly printed on the front and some of the main details (universal wireless charging, 7.5W fast charging, integrated Apple Watch charger, extra USB port) are called out on the front as well. The back of the box has a different view of the stand and some additional details highlighted (wirelessly charge 2 devices, portrait & landscape mode compatible).

Set-up of the stand is very easy. It does come with some assembly required. Users will have to snap the phone charging stand and Apple Watch stand into the base, but it’s a pretty painless process. The power adapter is quite large so if you are planning for it to plug into a power strip you may need to reorganize plugs in order to make it fit. The power adapter connects to the stand with a DC power connector. The USB port is located directly next to the power cord port. While this makes sense, it’s also a little awkward if you want to plug and unplug a cable from it. That said, I don’t think I would have but the USB port anywhere else because it’s hidden on the back of the stand. During my charging tests, I noticed that the base of the stand got quite warm. The warm spot was located between the phone and watch charging stands and seemed to be aligned right with where the power adapter plugs into the base. It didn’t stay warm and only heated up while something was actively charging. It didn’t seem to be excessive, but it was noticeable.

I decided to place this 2-in-1 charging stand in our living room to ensure I had a good place to charge my grandmother’s Apple Watch. Every night, we watch the 5:30 p.m. World News and local news broadcasts. It’s something we have done together since I was a little kid. It’s a family tradition. Recently, I ordered an Apple Watch Series 6 for my grandmother to help her keep track of her health. She loves it, but she has a hard time remembering to put her Apple Watch on charge. So every night during our time together, I place the watch on the Mophie charger conveniently located in our living room where we watch the news. I find by the end of the news her watch is fully charged and ready for her to use until the next day. This is also a convenient time for me to get some extra juice for my iPhone 12 Pro.

When I completed charging tests of the stand, I found that the iPhone had a charging rate of 0.55% per minute and the Apple Watch had a charging rate of 0.44% per minute overall. To be fair, the last 23 minutes the Apple Watch was charging it was above 80% battery life, which means that it was trickle charging to preserve the battery life of the device. I checked the charging rate for the first 24 minutes the watch was charging and it was 0.83% per minute. In my opinion, the charging rate is very efficient and comparable to other wireless chargers.

CONCLUSION

Mophie has been a constant in my life of technology. I know they are creating wonderful gear that makes my life easier. The charging solutions they make — from cases to portable batteries to charging stands — are amazing and I know that the gear is safe when using their technology. I feel that anyone who uses Mophie products will have a great experience. This 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Stand is a great addition to any household that has multiple devices to charge.
