The Messenger Bag from BlueLounge is a great companion for the digital commuter.
One of my favorite things to shop for is bags. I have always liked them and have quite the collection at this point. Every few months, I find myself having to go through the pile of bags and weed out the ones that I can really do without. Of particular interest to me is laptop bags and cases. I continue to be on the search for the best bag for my personal/professional computing situation. One type of bag I like to keep on-hand is a messenger style laptop bag. I was very excited to learn that BlueLounge had this bag style as one of their featured products.
The BlueLounge Messenger Bag is a very stylish, unique laptop carrying case. Designed for the commuter or traveler in mind, the Messenger Bag is made from a 100% PET Recycling process. This was a huge design benefit in my mind as I’d never heard of a laptop case being made from 100% recyclable materials. Basically, used bottles are turned into flakes, which are in turn made into filaments. Those filaments are then used to create a woven fabric that is constructed into the BlueLounge Messenger Bag. It’s a pretty cool use of used materials in my opinion.
Aside from the environmental benefits of the Messenger Bag, it is also very useful. I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro that slides right into the divided padded computer compartment. In the other half of that compartment, I have my iPad Air 2 with case and power cable for the MacBook Pro. There are two additional pockets on the inside – one is mesh while the other is made from the same fabric as the rest of the bag. I use the mesh pocket to carry an extra battery pack and a small wireless mouse. Besides the interior pockets, the Messenger Bag has one other pocket on the outside flap. It has a zippered closure and is meant for easily accessible items.
BlueLounge’s Messenger Bag is meant for lightweight travel. I wanted to emphasize that for any over packers out there – like myself. I tend to carry WAY too many items with me when all I really need is my laptop, iPad, power cable and a few smaller accessories. For that, the Messenger Bag is perfect. The Messenger Bag is compatible with MacBook Pros up to 17 inches in size – there is a small and a large version.
Quite possibly the most important part of any messenger style bag is the strap. I’ve used many before that are designed to hang straight down for placement on a shoulder – not across the body like so many people use them. BlueLounge designers definitely took that into consideration because the Messenger Bag’s strap is a cross-body padded strap. It’s got soft, thick padding where it needs it and a secure, but minimalistic strap the rest of the way around. The strap is adjustable and it’s been very easy to throw on in a moment’s notice. Another thing I really like is that the adjustable strap is easy to adjust even when it’s on your body. The flap covers the main compartments and interior pockets nicely and secures with very strong velcro and aluminum buckles.
BlueLounge’s Messenger Bag is highly recommended by this reviewer. It’s sleek, stylish, environmentally sound and great for your everyday digital essentials. The Messenger Bag retails for $135 and is available in two sizes – small and large – and two colors – black and grey.
