Convert any surface into a MagSafe surface
Turn any surface into a MagSafe surface with the MagPoka Magnet. Simply remove the backing on the adhesive pad and affix the MagPoka to your desired location. Gently pry the device away from the surface and then reattach it to another surface. Lightweight, relatively inexpensive, and convenient, the MagPoka base will allow you to enjoy the benefit of MagSafe mounting on nearly any surface.

Mount converts any surface into a MagSafe surface.
As a child of the ’80s and ’90s, I had the luxury of growing up alongside several of the Disney greats. However, I never expected to find my own Disney Princess, for her to choose me, or that I would experience life happily ever after.
In classic fairy tale style, her stunning personality, compassion, and love are regularly expressed through her fantastic voice. Whether singing at church, doing car karaoke, or singing in the shower, she brightens the world around her. Truly, I cannot think of another person with whom I would rather spend my life.
When getting ready for the day, when preparing to sing in the choir, or when the children are in the shower/bath, she often uses streaming services for background sound. Instead of resting the phone on the counter, the edge of the bathtub, the back of the toilet, or the floor, there had to be a better option to enjoy her iPhone 12. With her MagSafe compliant device, I opted for a magnetic-friendly attachment point for the region next to her mirror in the upstairs bathroom.

UNBOXING
The SwitchEasy MagPoka mount arrived in a 3 5/8 inches wide by 4 3/4 inches tall by 1/2 inches thick hanging-style package. The cover panel listed the company name and logo along the top left, a “For iPhones with MagSafe” statement along the top right, and the MagPoka product name centered beneath the two. The lower segment provided three product icons that detailed the MagSafe Compatibility, Special Magnet Design, and 4mm Ultra-Thin design.
The middle segment provided a 2 inches diameter image of the thatched MagPoka mount and a second ink-outline image of the device in use. The white cover provided a clean backdrop for the black font and the lime green accents. Both side panels provided the SwitchEasy name/logo, while the top panel provided a large plastic hanging tab.
The rear panel provided a large photo quality image of the wall-mounted device and a before/after image of a MagSafe-mounted phone. I appreciated the large “GO HANDS-FREE” slogan beneath the pictures and the four tidbits of information listed beneath the slogan. The section detailed the special magnetic design, MagSafe compatibility, 4mm ultra-thin stick anywhere design, and the ability to bond to your wall with residue-free glue, but warned about possible issues with paint/wallpaper.
The remainder of the panel provided a QR code video guide link, an SKU barcode, legalese trademark information, product manufacturing labels, www.Switcheasy.com web address, and MagDoka compatibility (review to follow)

TESTING
To access the device, I gripped the lower “Open” tab, removed the lower flap, and then pulled out the clear plastic tray. I removed the 1-ounce, 2 7/16 inches diameter by 1/8 inches thick MagPoka device from the center of the tray and appreciated the grey tweed front surface and the rear black adhesive segment.
Beneath the tweed surface, the device had an outer 1/4 inches thick magnetic ring and an inner 1 15/16 inches diameter nonmagnetic segment. I scanned the QR code on the back of the packaging, watched the 28-second clip, and found the perfect location for the MagPoka device.
I was impressed with the residue-free adhesive and found that it adhered strongly to the mirror, the wall paint beside the mirror, a wooden desk door, and the kitchen backsplash. I was able to stick the mount to the surface, gently peel it away, and reapply the included backing material in a new location. Since the surface was unbranded, my over-perfectionist nature remained untriggered.
If you have ever attempted to add a screen protector to a phone/tablet or if you have ever had to add stickers to a children’s toy, then you understand the frustration of trying to align labels. Thankfully, the MagPoka did not require any type of premeasurement to install. The artsy design of the textile surface worked nicely when affixed in any orientation.

Once affixed to the desired surface, the MagPoka provided a convenient MagSafe attachment point for my iPhone 13 Pro Max, for my wife’s iPhone 12, and for my son’s iPhone 7 with MagDoka Disc (reviewed separately). In fact, my wife used the MagDoka disk from my son’s phone and applied it to a small picture.
When she was not using the magnetic attachment for her phone, she replaced a picture on the wall so as not to see the MagPoka. I thought this was a rather ingenious method to hide the device when not in use. I loved the thin design, the easy installation process, and the simple elegance of the tweed pattern. If the textile pattern is not to your liking, consider picking up one of the other color options (Marble, Leather Black, or Wood).
For a mount, the $20 price tag seemed to be a bit on the high end. It likely would have felt more reasonable at the $12-$15 level.
