A great listening companion for the new year.
Heading into the new year, people will start making resolutions and usually, that means becoming more active. I don’t know about you, but when I get active, I always like to have music by my side — or rather in my ears. To me, earbuds are the natural way to go when selecting an option for taking music with me on errands or when I go for a walk. Finding the right combination of sound quality and comfort can be difficult at times, but the Lypertek TEVI True Wireless Earbuds have proven to be worthy of the investment.
DETAILS & FEATURES
The Lypertek TEVI True Wireless Earbuds are designed to provide a superior listening experience for users. The TEVI earbuds have the signature sound of Lypertek, which ‘is the result of a variety of psychoacoustics/acoustic engineering studies. Within the small housing of the earbuds, there’s a DAC, an amp, and a speaker unit. The speaker is ‘high-performance’ and made with a new material called graphene. It’s 1000 times lighter than paper and 200 times stronger than metal. The earbuds also feature Qualcomm’s latest triple-core processing Bluetooth audio SoC. They deliver acoustic performance with a 32-bit processor. The TEVI also supports aptX and AAC codecs.
The battery life is impressive at 10 hours of playback time on a full battery. Users can take advantage of the quick charge capabilities of the earbuds by getting 2 hours worth of playback time after only charging for 15 minutes. The earbuds feature master-slave switching technology. The more battery side automatically becomes the master unit. The earbuds are waterproof (rated at IPx7) and feature auto-pairing and mono mode.
The earbuds come in a simple product box. The front of the package is clear with some identifying words stamped on it. When you look past the text on the cover, you can see the earbuds and charging case stored safely inside. The earbuds were pre-charged and so was the charging case. In order to get started with them, you either have to press/hold the multifunction button on either earbud or remove them from the charging case. I tried both methods and simply removing them from the charging case to activate them is much easier.
On that note, I wanted to mention about the one thing that was bothersome to me. The multifunction button is an actual tactile button that is built into the ends of each of the earbuds. That means whenever you want to press them while you’re wearing the earbuds, you end up pressing the earbuds into your ears. For earbuds, I prefer touch controls since you don’t have to physically press the earbud to use controls at that point.
In addition to the fact that the buttons are tactile, the controls are a little complicated. For example, to play or pause a track, press either the left or right MFB, but to turn the volume up, press the right earbud twice. In my opinion, that makes the control cumbersome and difficult to use.
Getting the earbuds paired and ready to use, was easy. When you turn on (or remove them from their charging case), they should automatically enter pairing mode. If they do not, you can double-tap any side of the TEVI earbuds to enter pairing mode. I had to do this and the right earbud is the only one that shows up as being paired. The left earbud soon connected thanks to the smart interface of the earbuds. The earbuds came with medium ear cushions pre-installed, but a small and large were also included as was a set of foam ear cushions. I ended up replacing the medium with the small cushions and the earbuds stayed in place nicely.
The sound quality is superb. I was really impressed with how crisp the audio was when listening to music or a soundtrack from a movie. Sometimes earbuds fall flat for me, but the TEVI’s did a great job of balancing highs and lows. I was even impressed with the amount of bass that was provided. It wasn’t too much or too hollow sounding. They are simply balanced.
The Lypertek TEVI True Wireless Earbuds are a great all-around earbud. They charge using USB-C and have a really nice compact charging/traveling case. I love that extra ear cushions were included and felt that the earbuds were very comfortable — even for longer periods of time. For under $100, these are a really nice companion for the new year.
