A few months back, I started revamping my workspace. I changed the desk and added new cable management, as well as a new monitor and gaming PC. I really love clean aesthetics so I decided to go with a primarily white motif with some small black accents. User Experience
As you might expect with a desk mat/mouse pad, the setup was quite minimal. You open the box, which, by the way, doubles as a storage/travel tube for the mouse pad, and unroll it on your desk. Most XL mouse pads take some time to flatten out, but I found that this one did it relatively quickly. Rather than the typical 24 hours, it was only a couple of hours before the most extreme curl was flat on my desk.
As I mentioned, my desk aesthetic is white and black. When I saw the designs for this mouse pad, I knew I had to add in the Darth Vader version of it. I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan and my office is literally decorated with original Star Wars art and collectibles. When I rolled it out on my completely white desk surface, I realized how well it actually fit the workspace. It is mainly black, but as you can see from the photos, there are white highlights and even a little bit of a blue tint on Vader’s helmet. This makes it the perfect complement to my white/black desk setup.
While the surface material is soft and smooth, it can be hard to clean. I’ve used neoprene mouse pads and desk mats for many years and they collect all kinds of dust, dirt, and even oils from the human skin. Most online sources will tell you to use dish soap (Dawn, preferably) and a brush to remove stubborn stains. Some other sources will say that it’s safe to throw into a clothing washer. I prefer the former method.
Goblin_Axeman on Reddit says, “I throw my mat into the bathtub, get it wet, put some Dawn dish soap on it, work the soap in with my finger pads or plastic bristle dish brush, and then turn the shower head on to rinse it out. I then roll it up in a towel and press some of the water out and then let it dry flat overnight.” This is a pretty good method and something to keep in mind for regular maintenance of your Logitech G840 XL Star Wars Gaming Mouse Pad.
I’ve used this mouse pad with a variety of peripherals — Logitech G brand and others — and it’s proven itself to be durable and very functional when it comes to gaming.
