Create colorful mood lighting with this RGB orb.
Colorful lights make me happy. They create a soothing, relaxing atmosphere. Over the past several years, I’ve swapped out my standard white lights for vibrant RGB smart lights that help set the mood throughout my house. In addition to those lights, I have strategically placed lighting elements like the LED Light Ball from Loftek.
Details
This LED Light Ball is a multi-use light and is perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. Because it’s rated IP65, it’s considered a waterproof, floating LED sphere. The light is perfect for use as weddings, props, in the pool, backyard, patio, etc. The light ball comes with a remote control that adjusts the light through its 16 different colors and modes. The light ball comes complete with a metal hanging D-ring so that you can hang it on a ceiling, porch, tree, etc. It also comes with a taper mount for sticking it into the ground. User Experience
Last summer, I had the opportunity to review the Cube Light from Loftek. It was certainly eye-catching and I’ve incorporated the device into the lighting design of my office. The experience with the Light Ball has been very similar to the Cube Light. The orb arrived in a in a simple cardboard box with the Loftek name printed on it. Set-up was easy as I only had to turn on the ball. Now, my device had some charge to it, but I would recommend charging the Light Ball prior to long-term use of it.

There are a few different sizes of the Light Ball, but I opted for the 8-inch version because that’s the size I got with the cube. The ball provides a nice spread of light in a given area. For a while, I had it sitting on my desk and I found that it produced enough light to make it so I didn’t have to have overhead lighting on. This is a benefit to me because I sometimes get headaches from harsh lighting. The remote works very easily with the Light Ball. You simply point the remote at the ball and tap the selection you want to make. One thing you should be aware of though is that the remote works with an IR signal. If other IR devices are nearby, the remote may control them, too. I found that this remote can also control the Light Cube I tested last summer, which is a welcome surprise because you can control both devices with one remote.

The ball is rechargeable and out of the box, it did have some charge. I was able to leave the light on for a few hours before the ball died. The cable that came with the Light Ball isn’t super long and it does not come with an AC wall adapter. I would love it if this cable were longer for cable management purposes.
Conclusions
The LED Light Ball from Loftek is a great addition to any home or entertainment environment. I think it also looks great in the backgrounds of photos. The ambience this light creates is priceless and I would recommend it for any type of user.
