A good option for sleep problems.
Sleep is an essential part of life. While some people may feel that it’s a luxury and they try to avoid it, lack of sleep can cause more problems than it solves. I sometimes have problems falling asleep at night. The day’s events keep playing through my head and it can be hard to drown out the thoughts for a quiet rest. Some people may decide to take medicinal sleep aids, but I prefer to not take pills to help with this sort of thing. I much prefer to use sound machines to aid my sleepless nights as they don’t leave me feeling groggy the next day — like some sleep aids do. That’s why I like the LectroFan EVO from Sound of Sleep.
The LectroFan EVO is a soothing, non-looping white, pink, brown noise and ocean sound generator. The fan comes with multiple sound options pre-programmed into the device. The LectroFan is designed to help users sleep through the night. The non-looping noises are scientifically developed to minimize noise disturbances that will help you sleep uninterrupted. In addition to helping with sleep, LectroFan can also help improve focus while studying or working. It’s a self-contained sound generator that has easy to use controls and a built-in speaker. It’s not extraordinarily large measuring 4.4 x 2.2 x 4.4 in and weighing 1.2 lbs. It will fit on the top of most dressers or nightstands easily.
The LectroFan EVO came packaged with an owners manual and a power cord. The power cord has a USB-A plug on one end and it connects to a power adapter. Although I haven’t tried it, I believe that it will work if you plug it into other USB ports. If you happen to have a power strip that has USB ports on it, you should be able to power it from that. In addition to its built-in speaker, the LectroFan has a 3.5mm stereo jack on it that allows you to connect a larger speaker to it if you wish.
We used this sound machine in our bedroom for a few weeks. The first night we used it, we had it set to a fan only noise. While that helped some, I really didn’t notice a huge difference until we added in a brown noise. While I can’t be 100% sure, I believe we ended up with the tone called “chestnut”. For me, it seemed as though the lower pitched sounds worked better than others. I found that the noises produced by the LectroFan really helped me fall asleep quicker than absolute silence did.
I happen to have a Sleep Number mattress, which has integrated sensors that measure the quality of a person’s sleep. You can see from the sleep tracking system that after a few days of using the LectroFan, the amount of restlessness I had while sleeping lessened. It wasn’t a huge difference, but it’s enough to see that something changed in my sleep pattern. There were even a few days that we didn’t use the sound machine and my amount of restlessness increased again.
The LectroFan EVO is a really nice option to help people sleep without any use of medicine. The one thing I wish that the LectroFan had was a connection to an app. It would be great to be able to change settings from the phone rather than having to do it only on the device itself. I love the form of the device and that many sounds are built in. It is easy to use and doesn’t take up much space, which is really nice for minimal spaces. I can recommend this device to others who have sleep issues. It may not work for everyone, but it’s worth trying if sleep eludes you.
