R1-f iPhone Case offers advanced impact protection in a folio case.
It’s very rare that you find my phone without a case wrapped around it. It’s even rarer that you find it housed inside a folio style case. It’s not that there is anything wrong with them, I’ve just not found the right one for me. There just always seems to be something that falls short in the design and most folio cases fall short of my expectations. After testing out the Nomad case from LAUT, I thought I’d give their folio case, R1-f a try. I was highly impressed with the Nomad case and I felt that a folio case from the same company, might be worth a short.
The R1-f is a very tough case. It’s drop-test certified and exceeds MIL-STD 810 (military standards). Even though it’s sort of like body armor for your phone, the case is lightweight and surprisingly not bulky. The case is made out of ballistic nylon and faux leather. The case provides very easy access to all the ports and buttons of the phone and the folio cover gives you the option of using your phone in different viewing angles. The folio isn’t a full wallet but it does have a single card slot for storage of a card or maybe a little bit of cash. The most impressive feature of the R1-f case is the IMPKT core technology. This allows the case to absorb any impacts and it pulls that energy away from your phone to minimize any damage.
The R1-f snaps around the iPhone very easily. On the spine of the case, you will find that there are a + and – symbol that are situated just above the volume up/down buttons on the phone. There is also a small cut-out on the cover for the earpiece/speaker. These features are built in to make it easier for users to take phone calls without having to fumble around with opening the cover. One thing that I wish was included with this case’s design is the sleep/wake magnet on the cover. This would not only help to keep the cover closed, but it would also serve a functional purpose with the phone.
I’ve been very happy with the flexible cover. It makes it very easy to watch videos and monitor other activities on the phone. One big feature I love about this case is that I can still use it with my iPhone dock. It’s a little bit of a tight fit, but it will still rest and charge on my dock at night. In my opinion, the LAUT R1-f is a great choice for folio case. It’s strong, but not bulky; it’s functional and still stylish. It’s a great option for any iPhone 7 user. The R1-f comes in three color choices – indigo, slate, and crimson. LAUT includes a plastic screen protector along and installation kit with the case.
