SmartFit Solemate Plus provides professional-level foot and leg support.
Standing…sitting…laying down…these are all ways I’ve found myself using a computer. With that said I spend the majority of my time sitting at my home office desk working on my machine. One thing that has helped me to be comfortable sitting over the years is to prop up my legs. The problem with that is it’s only comfortable for so long before my feet are back on the floor. That’s where the Kensington SmartFit Solemate Plus Foot Rest comes into play.
Kensington has been around for a long time now and they know how to design products for office use. The SmartFit Solemate Plus is one of these products you don’t know you are missing out on until you have it. The footrest allows for me to adjust my feet in different positions with a simple click of a button. I don’t even have to bend over to click the button as it’s designed so that you can do it with your foot while using the Solemate Plus. Now it does have an option on the sides where you need to use your hands, but that’s just to raise the rest higher or lower with ease.
This footrest is designed to promote a stress-reducing seated position. It supports not only your feet but also your legs and lower back. The height of the Solemate Plus adjusts between 3.5-5″ and can rest at an angle up to 30 degrees. The main surface where your feet rest is a large, non-skid area, which provides controls and stability. The Solemate Plus isn’t as large as some foot rests I’ve seen. It measures 19.75″ x 13.75″ and it fits under my desk easily.
One of the reasons I sought out a product like this was because I suffer from severe arthritic pain in my left leg. Some years ago, I had a double ACL reconstruction and it never quite healed properly. Now, I find that I have daily leg pain — especially when the weather changes — and sometimes the only way I can change how it feels is to change its position. Having the Solemate Plus under my feet has really helped my daily aches and pains. I also feel myself sitting up straighter because my feet are supported at a better height.
SmartFit Solemate Plus is very comfortable to rest my feet on — even without shoes. Some of the other models I’ve checked out don’t offer the same level of comfort. I believe that part of this is due to the non-skid covering on the top. It really adds a lot to the comfort of the piece. There are a lot of foot rests that don’t have this type of covering and for people not wearing shoes, they are met with a rough surface instead of something that is soft and smooth.
I’m very happy with the Solemate Plus Foot Rest and think that most people who sit at a desk throughout the day would find it comforting for their tired feet.
