Two words explain iTranslate – Freaking awesome!
I’ve been a fan of iTranslate for iOS and now that it’s available for the Mac I’m super excited. I chat with people from all over the world about apps and gadgets and sometimes things get lost in translation, but with iTranslate for the Mac, I don’t have this problem.
iTranslate supports over 80 languages and will quickly become one of your favorite apps because of its ease of use. iTranslate allows for voice output on words and phrases making and understanding pronunciation of phrases a bit simpler.
As I mentioned, iTranslate is very easy to use. Developer Sonico Mobile, made iTranslate for Mac a menu bar utility so that it’s always front and center to what you’re doing. This is a great idea considering that most people will use iTranslate for Mac while trying to communicate with people online. The icon in the menu bar is a globe. When you click on it, you are met with an entry field and an output field. The entry field is where you type in the word or phrase you need translated. The output field is where the translation will be displayed along with the audio option, which is displayed as a speaker icon. Alongside the entry and output fields are a circular icon that imitates a country’s flag. To change these, you simply click on the icon and select the language you want to use. If you want to reverse the entry/output languages, you simply click on the reverse icon in-between the two fields.
iTranslate gives you dictionaries for many languages so that translations go much smoother than some translations that only give you one result per translation. This is helpful because sometimes words have different definitions in other languages and multiple dictionaries make for much smoother translations.
iTranslate for Mac also gives text suggestions. When you start typing, iTranslate will automatically fill in words as a suggestion so that you can get your translation faster and it will be more accurate. iTranslate is a wonderful utility app the can make communicating much easier across the world.
Apple has made iTranslate an Editors’ Choice Pick and is currently on the front page of the Mac app store. iTranslate for Mac is discounted 50% at $4.99 for a limited time. For more information, visit the developer’s website at itranslateapp.com.
