A flash drive with style.
If there is one thing that I’ve noticed lately is that I cannot have enough portable storage. Even with cloud storage availability, I seem to find continual uses for flash drives. I have several — even ones with enormous amounts of space — but every once in a while I like to broaden my collection with something just a little different. When I found out about the Guardians of the Galaxy mini OTG Flash Drive I thought it would be the perfect addition to my accessories.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 OTG USB Flash Drive is perfect for people who are not only fans of the movie franchise, but also those who want a very portable storage solution. The flash drive itself is USB 3.0, which has data transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps. It is compatible with all major operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Linux. It has both standard USB and Micro USB plugs included, which make it easy to use with most devices. Because of this, you can also use it as a storage solution with a lot of smartphones. It comes with a capacity of either 16GB or 32GB and is designed to be plug and play with no additional drivers needed for operating systems. It’s very lightweight as it only weighs 50 grams.
The flash drive is officially licensed by Marvel, which means that it has full Guardians of the Galaxy design applied to it. The packaging it comes in looks like a modified cassette tape wrapping from the 80s. It has “Awesome Mix Vol. 2” stamped on the outside of it as an homage to the mixtape from the film. The flash drive itself is also adorned with the same look as the film’s famous mixtape.
I really like the versatility of this flash drive. The mechanism that allows you to slide between Micro USB and USB-A is very smooth and there is a small click when you reach the in-between point, which keeps both plugs inside the mixtape. I really only had a good opportunity to use the USB-A port because I use an iPhone as my primary phone so I don’t have the Micro USB port on my phone. That said, I found that I was able to transfer a video file that was over 400MB in less than 4 seconds from my MacBook Pro to the flash drive. This was a pretty fast transfer in my eyes. It is amazing to me how such a tiny device can have so much power.
Aside from this being just a really cool piece of merchandise that carries the Guardians of the Galaxy brand, it’s also a very peppy portable storage device. Even if it didn’t look as cool as it does, I would still want to own it because of its quick data transfer speed.
